This is a replacement for a previous model which was consumed by my daughter's dog during one of his late night ancient freak outs when nobody was home. Since every attempt to reach Logitech to purchase a replacement handset only went unanswered I was forced to purchase a complete replacement set. The product is great and I highly recommend it, I wish their support matched the product quality, sadly for me it does not.

Controlling entertainment units is what this Harmony remote/hub is all about. It gives you so much more freedom than conventional IR remotes that need to be aimed at the device as Harmony remote uses radio signals to communicate with the hub which in turn blasts IR through the room reflecting off walls and finally reaching your units. Unfortunately, I have so far faced two serious shortcomings with the current hub/remote combo: 1- If for any reason you fail to turn on/off the units simultaneously within an activity, there is literally no way to rectify that with the remote. The devices will simply alternate between on and off state no matter how many times you fiddle around with activity/off buttons. You will be left with no choice but to use the app which slows you down even more each time it runs on your mobile (authentication/forgotten login/sync progress, etc.) 2- It does not control home aircon units out of the box and does not like to learn/replicate the IR commands for my specific Samsung model at all. I was really hoping to use the hub to put my aircon on a timer while I am away. It also doesn't allow me to teach custom/arbitrary commands for non-entertainment devices. Read full review

Have had this remote for a few months now, and it's much better than I'd hoped. I bought it to replace a Harmony 650(?), however this is much better, without breaking the bank. It's very accurate, one touch and it works every time, unlike the last remote which I had to point and hold for several seconds. The last controller was hopeless for kids. This controller has 2 IR units so you can have them at 2 locations. One of mine is inside a cabinet, and (somehow?) works perfectly.

Love this remote. It has more than just the IR protocols meaning that my older kit and newer kit can be controlled with it. The blaster is powerful and a remote mini blaster can be extended to over 20 meters away (with an external cable). This is the only remote that I use and it replaces a number of far more expensive attempts I've made to find a single blaster to control them all.

I have had to set this up at least 3 times in the last month of first ownership. The app says that the automated steps are recorded but the hub just goes to sleep and forgets to wake up sometimes. No matter where I place the unit or the remote infrared unit, it is not really consistent - sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Don't bother buying.
