Some reviewers feel this recording (one of her largest selling) to be a bit eclectic when in fact this is an examination of her desire to explore new musical genres. Her rehash hit formula still is present and on prior recordings as well as later, they didn't add anything new to the song. This is not the case with this fine disc. Her rendition of BLUE BAYOU is definitive; IT'S SO EASY hads a brashness unheard in the original. You can actually understand the lyrics to the hard rocking TUMBLING DICE. And along the way you have one of the most beautiful ballads in her repertoire--the title song by one time producer and lover turned friend, J.D. Souther. My only complaint is the sound quality. The US came into pressing their own CDs late in the game and the big record companies began to release past catalog with sloppy remastering and unlike Sony (formerly Columbia who reissued and remastered their discs due to public outcry), Linda's label never did. All her great hit Lps of the 70's suffer with each reprint due to poorly analog to digital recordings. All of them lack the expansive sound from the original vinyl counterparts. Hopefully, thanks to the nostalgia craze the WEA group will take the hint. Her solo Capitol Records work has been anthologized in glorious 22 bit mastered sound, and her first Lp for WEA DON'T CRY NOW has been reissued by Mobile Fidelity (limited numbered edition) on 24k gold and recorded in "real time"--and is a sonic treat. This is an important Ronstadt recording that deserves a higher standard of duplication for historical preservations by the premier female rock vocalist of the 70's and early 80's. A rock solid piece of work every serious music lover should listen to.Read full review
Essentially a "Greatest Hits" album by Pop music's greatest interpreter and a voice so distinctive and so effortlessly powerful, you know the singer upon completion of her first syllable sung. I bought this for the song "Old Paint" which I recently discovered on YouTube and was pleased to find 4 top 40 singles: 1) It's so Easy 2) Blue Bayou 3) Poor Poor Pitiful Me & (the Rolling Stones) Tumbling Dice. This CD also sports lyrics and I found out where her famous poster came from. Linda's warm-ups were better than any of today's lip-syncing, filtered through endless pitch correctors, "Pop Stars" I am so pleased that she finally received her long overdue induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!!
I now own 5 different digital pressings of "Simple Dreams" and the sonic quality of this Australian remaster is nothing to scream in ecstasy about. The sound is not ear wrenching horrible, but it falls way short of the MFSL remaster of "Simple Dreams." That typed, "Simple Dreams" is an iconic release, and if one is an obsessive collector, this Australian remaster may be worth owning.

This was always a favorite recording of mine. Since I dont play lps as much and my casette copy was well worn; this cd comes with open arms. Linda ronstadt is a great singer & compassionate performer. Heartfelt and open, this music comes highly recommended. Dont just take my word for it, seek a copy for yourself. Goldkrow
I bought this LP when it was released and never got around to replacing with a CD until now. What a mistake to do without what I consider to be Linda's best effort for so long! (Haven't owned an LP or turntable in a very long time...) This is vintage Ronstadt, from the rockin' 'It's So Easy' to the practically antique 'I Never Will Marry' (duet with Dolly Parton). And above all, the original 'Poor Poor Pitiful Me' to flush the memory of that AWFUL country remake from my ears...
