I believe CPUs have very long lives and do not fear acquiring used CPUs.
With a .4GHz boost over what I had I could tell I added snap to the old PC. I PUed a Medion Professional PC someone gooked up with software/malware at a garage sale and reformatted & it was OK. HOWEVER.... For like $5.99 the snap of the 3.4GHz was appreciated. These CPUs seem more stable versus the P4 478 Sockets. There is no "Turbo Boost" as in a 2013 CPU, but these 775 Socket CPUs are 1/10th the price, run fast, and you may have the rest of the rig already, such as myself. BTW I had a stock copper core Intel Heat Sink Fan and it does the 3.4GHz heat as well as it did the intended 3.0GHz heat.With a .4GHz boost over what I had I could tell I added snap to the old PC. The difference between crawling and running.
This CPU now has me flying.......updating motherboards make sure you add this CPU, cannot go wrong. This particular CPU by intel feature hyper treading and can easily be configured to make your PC experience an productive one. I sue this processor in my whitebox PC that is used for my home theater.

good reliable power to spare
Just a tad above the very reliable 2.8 ghz when demand calls for it but still has very conservative power needs as compared to the amd piece. the price point is a little better than the 2.8 and if you have the extra cash on hand then by all means GET THIS CHIP, you wont be dissapointed.
