A standard PATA/SATA interface and 2.5-inch form factor mean the Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 is compatible with most PC systems (both desktop and portable), while its advanced motor (with fluid dynamic bearings) ensures the drive is quiet during operation. Because laptop users put hard drives through more punishment, this Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 drive has been ruggedized to withstand operating and non-operating shocks. The lightweight of 0.22 lbs means this internal 100 GB hard drive won’t add appreciably to a laptop’s weight, yet its 5,400 RPM spindle speed and optimized caching mean upgrading to a Hitachi Travelstar hard drive will improve system speed compared to many stock laptop drives.
