About this product

Product Information

Returning to Windows PCs, the Call of Juarez story steps a generation back in time with Bound in Blood, a prequel to the original game. Set 20 years earlier, the adventure stars Ray and Thomas McCall, two brothers from Atlanta, in their prime, fighting for the Confederate army in the War Between the States. As the game begins, tragedy tears them from the war and their home.

Through sequences of stealth, light platforming puzzles, and plenty of shooting, Ray and Thomas face a full complement of classic Western scenarios -- duels, jailbreaks, gunfights, horseback battles, stagecoach chases, and more -- as they travel from Georgia to Mexico, on a quest for a pile of cursed gold they believe will be their family's salvation. Once again, the Call of Juarez story is told from two perspectives, as players take the roles of two different lead characters, but unlike in the original, Bound in Blood players can choose which character they want to play in each stage (computer AI will control the other).

Ray McCall, featured as a much older man in the first game, is the more direct of the two. He specializes in two-fisted six-shooting and big explosives. Thomas is more cunning, with a knack for sniper shooting and stealth. In the tradition of rollicking Spaghetti Western films, weapons in the game are slightly more reliable and easy to use than era-accurate, and the game's gunplay was designed around giving the weapons a solid, authentic feel when fired. In addition to the single-player campaign, online multiplayer modes allow gamers to fight it out in cinema-inspired Western combat.

  • It is Worth it, after they fix the bugs!

Pros: -one of the few games set in the Wild West that is FPS -Fantastic story -I only payed $30 for it -open maps let you choose how to approach the enemy -graphics are better from Call of Juarez (of course) -a pretty cool range of weapons -side missions along the way in case you want to stay busy -a coherent prequal to the original game. Cons: -Bugs, bugs, bugs! Conclusion: Every game has bugs, but this bug was ridiculous. Ubisoft was useless in helping me with my problem of the text always being distorted on the main menu and the sound missing and the graphics being a little off, but only after you restart your computer after you installed the game. When you first install and play it, it is fine and the story is great and addictive game play make this game zoom by, but I did not get to ...

  • Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood

Saying I didn't like the first one would be an understatement. I found it to be an epic failure in all aspects except the graphics. But it had a good concept. So Bound in Blood follows the same ideas, but did it succeed this time ? Yes, it did. The gameplay is fun, that you play with any of the two brothers. Thomas is great for ranged combat and climbing to higher grounds to take the enemies out more easily, and Ray is tougher and perfect for closer combat with dual pistols. Oh, and he's got dynamite. But there are still some flaws. Thomas' lasso is pretty useless. It's only use is to climb up in certain, specific locations. Might as well just have a placed a ladder. Same goes for the bow. The thing's useless. It takes 2 or 3 arrows (with the first one) to kill, it's a bit clunky to use ...

  • awesome game, found it kinda boring when tried to re-play it.

I haven't played pc games in ages, and after playing far cry 2, with it's open world environment with missions as I go along. I wanted to try a more story-driven game and Call of Juarez: bound in blood definitely delivers, while adding a open world feeling. Awesome game, though after I finished I couldn't quite muster playing it again. What I didn't like: no co-op for the game. Visually compelling and brings me to the old west as it might've been.

  • A Great Western-themed Game

This game gets five stars simply by the fact that it is the best Western-themed multi-player game out there. It runs on the Chrome 4 Engine and the graphics are excellent, especially for its time. Leaning around corners is automatic in this game. Just get close to a corner and you can slowly lean and shoot. There are five game modes and 13 classes, some of which must be unlocked. You get cash during a match which you can use to upgrade your character. This game will run fine in Windows 7 64-bit and below. NOTE: IT will NOT run in Windows 8. I have the only dedicated server running at this time. Check it out. The server is "Kasual Killers".

  • Just OK

For some reason I found this game hard to get into. Most games that try to tell an involved story and plot always seem too shallow and this game is no exception. Also, I'm used to more modern FPS's, i.e., fire power. The realistic, yet cumbersome, weapons of the time period seem to slow things down. This is probably more my problem than the game's structure. Anyway, I recommend the game if you can get a used one at a used game price.
