This is great scanner for anyone using Windows XP. It's fast and easy to use. Mine is hooked up to system with an HP 1200 series LaserJet printer for what amounts to a good copier for a small office. That printer, by the way, is a work horse. Too bad but I cannot find drivers from HP to run this scanner in later versions of Windows. Perhaps there are third party sources. The scanner responds quickly and has fine resolution, is solidly built and inexpensive.

We are a small home office (2 employees-full time) and we bought this so we can get away from the all-in-ones as they do not have the color print capacity and we have a sometimes-need for a scanner. So we bought this and will buy a 4000 or higher class color laser printer. So, for an $600 scanner, it is great for a home or a small home office, but would see it being a major pain in the butt for a real office, as it is slow and a little herky-jerky. Other than that, it does scan consistently, and the input tray will truly store 50 pages and this thing will scan all 50 double sided pages (yes, it truly duplexes!)-It will take what seems to be a year but will scan it non stop until they are all done. The resolution is great. Software has crashed once (after it scanned 30 pages double sided) and it lost the scan as a result-forcing me to use my mouse and click 5 times and re-insert the paper, so no biggie, but a frustration.Read full review
At first I was having difficulty getting the scanner to read documents from the automatic sheet feeder. However, after picking the correct driver software interface, the scanner works like a charm. It is still to early to determine if this scanner will serve my every need. But, at this point in time I believe it was a wise investment and the footprint it takes up on my desk is perfect. It slides underneath a shelf on the top of my desk on top of which my monitor, laser printer and desktop PC are positioned. I bought this scanner because of the reliability of the HP scanner line that I have been using for over the last 20 years. Other scanners might be better, but I did not want to take the chance and get one only to find out that there were problems with it. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a HP scanner--the mainstay in the scanner industry. All other scanner companies are HP wannabes. Before buying the scanner I read a few reviews indicating that the scanner speed was slow on this scanner. I did not find that to be the case. The speed was fast--perhaps not as fast as the $1000+ HP models, however, since I paid less than $225 for this scanner brand new, I don't consider the extra expense to warrant the faster scanning ability.Read full review
I bought the scanner because I have a big stack of web pages from paying bills online. I sorted the papers but haven't yet scanned them all. I have scanned a few. The scanner came without a CD or any software but I was able to download it from HP. I run Windows 7 on the machine it is connected to. I have been able to scan a few things, both in the glass and through the feedfer. In the feeder I can't give it a stack of papers and wait for it to go through them. I have to give hte feeder one page at a time, but it works. I have also gotten good results from scanning things on the glass. The scanner has a wide range of resolutions but I just use 200 x 200 per inch. That is hte default. This scanner can also scan both sides of a page. That takes longer and uses more memory but it works well. It scans one side, puts the paper in the output tray, then feeds it back in from the output tray. Scanning both sides is the default but you can change that behavior, but you have to change it every time, you can't seem to change the default. All in all I am very happy with this scanner. My criticisms are minor.Read full review
