I would give this phone five stars if a few minor things were different. First off, I would like to write about the things I do like a lot about this phone. I like the fact that the base gives you an option to dial out and also has a spearphone on the base. The LCD screen on the base is very nice and has a lot of options you can control from there as well. The sound on the speakerphone and the handset is excellent. The flip phone design of the phone is great. Recordiing your own ring tones is a breeze. I like that you can listen to your messages from the handset as well as record your own greeting et cetra. There is a lot of room in the phonebook. The caller ID shows each person that called when they called and does not show repeat callers as repeat callers. Some of you may not care for this feature but if my Mom calls me ten times, I want to see each time she called and not her name and a number by it. I like that different callers can have their own ring tones and pictures. I like that the answering machine can be set to ANNOUNCE only and do not disturb. The privacy feature that prevents other lines from listening in on your call is great and I really enjoy that I can answer a call by simply opening the handset and ending it by closing the handset. You can also set the phone to any key answer. The bluetooth feature works very well and very easily and it paired very quickly with both my Blackberry pearl Flip phone as well as my Tmobile g1 so making a call from the landline or the mobile phone is simple. The phone holds a charge for a decent amount of time and does not take long to recharge. You can set reminders on this phone too. I'm sure there are a few more features I've forgotten to mention. What I do not like about the phone is that the LCD screen on the outside of the phone is very faint and adjusting the lcd contrast only works for the inside of the phone. The wallpapers and color schemes has a very cheap look to it. Hopefully downloading wallpapers will improve this. It would be nice if the phone was black and had a sleeker look to it but again these are only minor complaints like the fact that the phone does not dial a 1 before the numbers that needs them and adding it to your phonebook does not make any difference. Quite annoying. Also, if I add a friend whose names is William Smith as Bill it still comes up as William Smith when he calls which for me kind of defeats the purpose. Overall, I would like this phone a lot more if the aforementioned were changed but it is not a big enough problem for ne not to use it as the pros outweigh the cons.Read full review
I do like the fact that the phone is just like a cell phone. I am happy that a phone company put out a phone that compares, because it's hard using a cell phone all day then using your home phone and wishing it had some of the features as your cell phone. This Uniden is able to be set to vibrate. Which I love. You can record your own ringtones from your computer or ipod, you can set it to answer when open, turn off when closed. Set different ringtones for different contacts, you know your standard features on cell phones. You can also use your own pics as the phones wallpaper. The draw backs are small screen on the front that only displays callers name or phone number (but you can have them as pics in your contacts, but the pics don't come up when calling). ringtones are limited to 20 seconds, very small internal memory. My other Uniden was able to receive text messages, this one can't. Overall though I am happy with purchase, and people think they are using a cell phone when they ask to use my phone... and it's funny to hear.. well I gotta go cos I am using their minutes... lol... if you can this phone for $100 or less buy it... if not then wait till you can because I wouldn't pay much more than $100 for it.Read full review
The ELBT595 Base seamlessly connects to your bluetooth enabled cell. Allowing you to answer or place call from either cell or land line. The handset connects to a bluetooth headset. But only allow one device at a time. If you want to use multiple headsets you have to deregister and then pair the other which only takes about a minute. The range with bluetooth headset to handset is about normal. If you want to walkabout you have to take the handset with you but it does come with belt clip. The range from base to handset seems to be pretty good. Cons: Battery life with the handset with bluetooth enabled is not good. A have not tried with bluetooth disabled but I'm sure it would help.I can kill the battery in a few hours of conversation using the headset. The charger does not seem to keep up with the power consumed while talking.Read full review
I like the phone overall and have 3 base units and one small base. I like the large bases because they have the buttons on the base and have speaker phone. the menu is a little cumbersome to navigate. the speaker phone works well and there is plenty of volume left to raise the level of hearing if needed. it has a cool blue light when the handset is in the base. i dont like that the base and the handset both have to have there own battery. i wish it had a button for leaving a memo other than haveing to push a few buttons to get to it in the menu. over all i like the phone and its size and bluetooth. another nice feature is that it does not take up too much room on your desk as my old model did.
Good phone, nice signal. Kind of old style cell phone. Old style graphics which are not too nice to view. Blue tooth is sweet as well as the answering machine. Rings are loud, call quality is decent. Sometimes hollow. Operation is not too easy. Must remember the right codes and buttons. Speaker phone is decent. USB I have not tried yet. But I think it is a nice feature. ALL in all, if you paid a low price 25.oo it is worth it. Remember this is a discontinued item. Finding parts will be hard. I will replace with a new different model when this one dies.
