About this product

Product Information

Arising from the same unholy concoction as its immediate predecessor in the series, Resident Evil 5 looks like a third-person shooter, plays like a first-person shooter, and feels like a survival-horror game. As in the acclaimed Resident Evil 4, an up-close, over-the-shoulder perspective allows players to see the heroes in action. Accessible aiming controls and fluid graphics make for quick, intuitive weapon use. Creepy settings, un-human enemies, and keen pacing create experiences of tense exploration, startling surprise, and overwhelmingly outnumbered desperation. The first in the Resident Evil series designed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game presents its horrors in high-definition, built on a custom-enhanced version of Capcom's MT Framework game engine.

The story takes place in Africa, in the fictional desert country of Kijuju. The game is set about a ten years after the events of the original Resident Evil, and features the original game's character Chris Redfield in the lead role. He is accompanied by a skilled mercenary named Sheva Alomar. The two make a good team, and many of the most challenging situations in the game are best overcome with teamwork. When one of the two characters has been subdued or wounded, the other can "help" or "heal" with the press of a button. Other circumstances call for particular solutions, such as one player drawing enemies out of cover while the other picks them off with rifle shots from a safer location.

Both characters are agents of a international group known as the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (or BSAA), on a mission to investigate the origins of the nefarious Tyrant virus, variants of which have been responsible for turning ordinary people and animals into mindless, zombie-like killing machines throughout the Resident Evil series. The game's levels are a mix of spooky, scripted runs and open-ended battles that develop dynamically. Although facing surprise attacks and overwhelming odds, a run-and-gun approach won't last; it takes situational tactics and good ammo management to make it through each stage. Online multiplayer co-op is available throughout the game, in which one player controls Chris and the other controls Sheva.

In addition to the game disc and manual, the Collectors' Edition of Resident Evil 5 includes a steel disc box and an additional disc of bonus content, a necklace in the shape of Kijuju, a BSAA patch, a Chris Redfield figurine, and a cloth messenger bag.

Everything was as stated in the listing, and the unit worked upon arrival. The shipment was double boxed with bubble wrap around the original box inside, and lots of packing tape around the exterior box - well done. Shipment was quick with no delays on the senders side.

  • Resident Evil 5 is a must have for this console

Graphics: Excellent 9.0/10 Sound: Excellent 9.0/10 Gameplay: Very Good 7.5/10 Replay: Great 8.5/10 Overall: Great 8.5/10 Note to the reader: I have been playing the Resident Evil Series since it’s introduction on the Playstation One. Graphics: Excellent 9.0/10 The graphics are excellent, the cut-scenes and in-game graphics are seamless, and this is as good as Capcom has done for this series. The shadows, lighting effects, and motions are great, and really immerse you into the game. The zombies, the backgrounds, and environments are detailed, rich, and engrossing. Sound: Average – 9.0/10 The thing that Capcom has always nailed in this series is the sound, and this game is no exception. The sounds of the groans, the ...

  • another great Resident Evil.

The special edition Resident Evil 5 set comes with trinkets that some may find superfluous, however to a fan like myself they are a pleasant addition to the game. Along with the steel case, alone a very nice addition, the set comes with a Messenger bag with the Tri-Cell logo screen on the flap, a Kijuju pendant necklace in the shape of Africa (including Madagascar which i found entertaining), a BSAA embroidered badge and a bonus disk with very interesting behind the scenes info. The game itself is very entertaining but as far as "horror" goes it seems lacking compared to recent titles like dead space and bio shock. It plays out more like an action game with very few puzzles. the Co op is really a great edition allowing for online or split screen, the latter of which seems to be hard to ...

  • Almost Perfect.

Resident Evil 5 continues where Resident Evil 5 left off, albeit four years later. The Las Plagas parasite and the fate of Umbrella are explored in this much anticipated sequel, and the series sees a return of fan favorite, Chris Redfield. Here are some fast and critical points about the game: the game play resembles the new style introduced in Resident Evil 4, there is offline and online main story cooperative play (awesome fun!), the graphics are gorgeous!!! The only major complaint I have is that the game is way too short. Replaying the story isn't as fun as one might expect, but there is the Mercenary mode. Overall, this is a fun multi-player action game.

  • RE5 Slipping away from tradition ?

OK, I already know all the superfans hate the title I have given the review....but as a hardcore RE fan myself I expected alot from this latest addition. Was I disappointed? My answer is "a little bit". Here is why. When I got my first Playstation and Played RE2 for the first time...I must say I was witnessing an evolution in the video game. Hardcore violence, puzzles, cinematic cut scenes, stunning graphics....I could go on forever. And when RE4 came along I knew that the legacy was solidified....RE was destined to be the greatest of all video game franchises of all time, no question. Now we have RE5.... the great return of Chris Redfield....so exciting. Here we go, where are the genius problems and puzzles to solve to get to the next area????? Who's idea was it to turn tradition into a ...

  • Another Resident Evil

Ah yet another Resident evil game that make you stand perfectly still in order to discharge your firearm. I think the creators think that makes it more realistic. LOL seriously your shooting at zombies and super monsters and that is realistic. don't get me wrong I have played and love all the Resident Evils and they can be fun and challenging but the gaming world is growing in leaps and bounds and it is time for the RE developers to make a few changes. Overall I would recomend you buy it. It is alot of fun. If they made those changes before I would have given this game an Excellent rating.
