    good switch

    using this as a simple home switch, while cosmetically it was just OK, that was fine its sitting in the basement anyway. it worked just fine for my purposes, hopefully it'll last for a while

    you can't go wrong with this basic access layer switch.

    The S series is a stripped down version of the dependable Catalyst 2960 range. don't confuse this model with the newer C2960S which is a gigabit series. This series, the C2960-S is a 100Mb/s switch. As such this model lacks the additional dual mode or GBIC style ports for dedicated uplink use. Still, having IOS, this switch enables a much finer degree of control and a wide range of security features that you probably won't find on most other switches. Compare Cicso models and model numbers carefully, to select the set of options you need.
