Seagate complies with the RoHS directive as well as numerous non-regulatory restrictions in manufacturing the ST3750528AS. This Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 is a 3.5-inch internal hard disk. It weighs about 3.5 ounces and measures 5.8 by 4 by 0.8 inches. This form factor is generally associated with desktop computers. As long as you have a 3.5-inch drive bay, it will fit. Your PC case can be a tower or even a home theater box. An internal disk like this one can also be used externally via a hard drive enclosure. It requires a drive enclosure that’s sized for a 3.5-inch HDD and has a SATA connection.Attach power to this SATA hard drive with a 750GB capacity with a standard Molex connector. The connector can come from your power supply unit. In the case of an enclosure, the power will come from USB or an AC wall adapter, but you’ll still connect via Molex. This hard drive also requires a SATA connection. This particular Barracuda supports the SATA II interface, which can achieve a maximum throughput of 3GB/s. These interfaces are backward compatible, so you can connect this drive to a SATA III lead without issue.The ST3750528AS drives are part of the Barracuda 7200 series. That means that these Seagate Barracuda drives function at 7200 RPM (revolutions per minute). The more revolutions a hard drive can complete in a nanosecond, the faster reads and writes will be. The number after the decimal in 7200.12 indicates the particular version. In this case, it means that the 7200-RPM drive has a 32MB cache. This cache serves as a buffer between the hard disk platter and the motherboard. This product has 16 read/write heads and features on-the-fly error correcting. The average seek time for reads is less than 8.5 milliseconds. The average seek time for writes is less than 9.5 milliseconds. It also supports an operational shock of 70Gs at 2 milliseconds.Once installed, you can format the Seagate Barracuda SATA drive via the operating system of your choice. A retail hard drive will usually include accessories like an owner’s manual, a SATA cable, and a disk with utilities. The DiscWizard software provides numerous tools to optimize your usage of the drive.
