Strong, silent Ryu Hayabusa sharpens his sword for another acrobatic adventure through deadly environments in this exclusive sequel on PlayStation 3, an enhanced version of the Xbox 360's Ninja Gaiden II. The action once again takes place from a third-person perspective set behind the nimble ninja, with highly cinematic showdowns taking place amidst exotic locales. Acclaimed designer Tomonobu Itagaki has altered the previous title's fast-paced combat system to incorporate new weapons and attacks.<br><br>In an attempt to appease those who thought the original game was too challenging, the developers have included an automatic health regeneration system and a choice of four difficulty levels, ranging from "acolyte" to "master ninja." The story mode follows Ryu in his trek from Tokyo to New York to a demon-populated netherworld. While the story mode is strictly for solo players, PlayStation Network subscribers will be able to record, modify, and post film clips of their most manic maneuvers for the online world to enjoy.<br><br>Other notable additions to distinguish this version from the Xbox 360 game include three new playable characters, two-player cooperative support (both online and offline) in special challenge stages, and bonus modes. Completing the campaign will unlock all of the stages so you can revisit each one to set a high score, with the results appearing on a global leaderboard. "Ninja Records" is a new stat-tracking feature that will note your fastest completion time, largest combo, top score, and more.

    Great challenging game

    This is a great game similar to Ninja Gaiden 2 for the XBOX 360. The first Buddha boss was unforgiving challenging, where it's hard to get an attack in. Unfortunately, they got rid of the blood despite being a mature rated game. The cinematic are stunning and excellent. A must buy for Ninja Gaiden and Action Adventure Open World fans.

    Awesome Ninja Action For PS3 Owners!

    This is a great game and awesome follow up to the original NG 2 (on the 360). All of the content found in the 360 version is here, albeit with one omission, which is the blood. Many will argue this reason alone makes the PS3 version inferior, and while that's a matter of opinion, you can easily overlook this minor detail by the amount of additional content Team Ninja added to this version of the game. To begin, there are 3 additional female characters joining the fray. All three females have their own unique weapons, magic, play style, and levels. In addition to this, the developers added new levels and boss battles not found in the 360 version. This translates into a rather long single player campaign. 10+ hours on the single player campaign depending on your skill level. Last, but not ...

    An immensely satisfying action game!

    Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is an immensely satisfying action game. If you enjoy a good challenge it offers plenty of content to keep you happy. Beating the game will take a few days, but mastering the escalating difficulty levels could take weeks, or in my case, many months of enjoyable practice. IGN Ratings for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3) 8.0 Presentation The storyline is nonsense but that’s secondary to the beauty of the overall package. 8.0 Graphics It’s a shame the occasional screen tearing interrupts this otherwise excellent visual display. 8.0 Sound The music is appropriately dramatic but fades to the background against the screams of dying ninjas and the clash of swords. 8.5 Gameplay Some bosses are repetitive and fighting the camera can be painful, but you won’t find many action ...

    Great game but it takes patience.

    I was referred this game by a friend of mine. He stated it was the most awesome game. After receiving the game, I can see why he said that. It definitely is a great game. It is Dynasty Warriors and Devil May Cry combined. You unlock various weapons and if you want to become a professional, it will take patience and time. There are many combinations to learn and techniques. The A.I is not made for you to just kill and get by, they are made to kill you and give you a "game over". It is a hard game, it might be difficult for others who don't have the patience to learn moves and just press buttons happily. This game emphasizes how important blocking is. It's a must play if you love third person action games.

    As Charlie Sheen would say..."WINNING!"

    Both the 360 and PS3 got Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, with the 360 having fabulous bloody gore and scenes with decapitations and bloody awesomeness, the PS3 got extra bosses and extra characters to use with more weapons, Ninja Gaiden is the type of series that reminds you why hack and slash games are awesome, Ninja gaiden is up there with Devil May Cry and God of War, the 3 giant slaying kings, Kratos, Dante and Ryu. This is an excellent game for those PS3 owners who were jealous of 360 owners who got it for the 360. I would have to say that even though the gore is heavily toned down in the PS3 version, and it's a little easier, and the projectiles are now unlimited, it's still a slightly superior remake. Just as equally good, in it's own way. a 5 stars out of 5 stars type of game.
