I've tried many other 10GbE cards, from old server SFP+, Startech's #ST10000SPEX ($300), ASUS' older ROG 10G Express add-in card, and none would work to their full potential. Either they would be slow speeds altogether or only saturate the 10Gbe one-way - i.e. only send at 10Gb, slow to receive (150MB/s or slower). I popped a XG-C100C into each of my two desktops connected directly together with a Cat6 cable (manually configured their IP's, set jumbo packets to 9000 and bamm, instant full saturation of my SSDs (550MB/s, send/receive). I made sure they work flawlessly with my 10GbE Buffalo switch as well. After making RAMdisks on each computer these cards easily send/receive 1100MB/s+. For the price you won't find a better card! Now I use them as part of a true 10GbE network with 10GbE switches and all, still work great.Read full review

Son uses this on his server for Minecraft. He said it had dropped latency and response time from his older Gigabit unit.
