About this product

Product Information

APB: All Points Bulletin is a video game version of cops-and-robbers. Internet-connected players take the roles of "Enforcers" and "Criminals" in the large, urban game world of San Paro, where they battle one another in third-person shooter combat. To get from place to place in the freely roamed virtual city, characters can drive their own souped-up custom automobiles, or simply carjack the nearest model of choice, Grand Theft Auto-style. Characters aligned with the Criminal faction gain "notoriety" as they commit crimes and other dirty deeds. Higher notoriety leads to higher payouts for accomplishing missions, but it also makes the Criminal a higher-profile target for law enforcement officers. Similarly, Enforcer characters strive to maintain a high "prestige" rating, by preventing crimes and doing good in the world, thus gaining higher mission rewards as well as higher prices on their heads.

Thousands of computer-controlled civilians populate the streets of San Paro, all potential victims to rob or rescue. Human-controlled characters cannot engage one another, regardless of faction, until they have been matched in a mission. This ensures that player-versus-player combat is consensual and prevents characters from being killed in the crossfire of another match-up's battles. Although it takes place entirely in a multiplayer, persistent-world environment, All Points Bulletin is not a conventional "Massively Multiplayer Online" role-playing game. There is a limit of one hundred human players per server world, and the game is heavily action-oriented, without the hierarchal skill-leveling system of an RPG. There are abundant opportunities for character customization, however, including the purchase of bigger guns and faster cars that offer obvious advantages in combat on the city streets.

Players can change the appearance of their characters' cars and clothes in the city's social district, where there is no combat allowed. Extensive customization tools are available, and creative gamers can upload their best designs for sale to other players. The action takes place in San Paro's other two areas, the financial and waterfront districts. Similar to most persistent world games, a retail copy comes with a limited amount of play time, and the gamer must pay for ongoing play in the combat districts. Those who play often may opt for a monthly subscription, while more casual players can make one-off purchases of additional hours of game time. Play in the social district is always free. APB was created by Realtime Worlds, the development studio founded by David Jones with several former employees of Scotland's Rage Software. Previously with DMA Design, Jones helped develop a number well-known titles, including the first three Grand Theft Auto games.

  • Good game, don't buy on EBAY

This game is so addictive. I bought a key from ebay for a friend and it was banned:( for being a fraudulent key. But I bought the game thru steam and I did get a refund for the bad one. This game is awesome and just what the shooting world needed.

  • Great game, lot of action, player to player interaction

Game is very particular, and needs at least the min.requirements, actually more.. CPU speed is critical,as is video cards.... good game though..

  • Dont buy it here, but get it!

This game has been closed for a while and reopened as a Free to play game by a different company Dont buy it on here as it is Free to play and a free download, www.gamersfirst.com/apb

  • Do not buy this it is useless

Warning do not buy this unless you are a dead game collector. The disc severs no purpose since Realtime worlds went bankrupt two months after putting out this game. Another company bought the rights to the game and there is now a free to play version called APB: Reloaded. It does not require this disc to play so do not buy this.

  • This is a dead game, as in no offline play, no online servers, no support

Don't buy this game! Can only play online, no offline game play! Game no longer works as this companies servers no longer exsist. Total waste of money.
