WHY BUY? I bought this for the online math and accelerated reading our school requires, and also for the family to do some web-surfing without needing to pull out the main machine. I also wanted something for mobile web-surfing in coffee shops. THE GOOD: Like most Lenovos, the x130e is a well-built, solid-feeling machine with a very good (nearly full-size) keyboard and a fairly good trackpad. It came equipped with Windows 7 Professional, WiFi, Ethernet, and three USB ports. The CPU in this machine actually is an Intel Celeron chip, not an AMD. Although it's not the newest technology, the CPU feels snappy and there is plenty of storage with the 320GB HDD and 4GB of RAM. It is also very expandable if you want to upgrade with more RAM or a SSD. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: The small screen size takes some practice to if you are coming from a larger laptop or a desktop, but it is eminently usable once you get used to it. The trackpad is very sensitive - I find my cursor jumping around if I am not careful - this is the only annoyance I have with the x130e. The x130e is also a little heavier and bulkier than most netbooks in this size range. I actually like that, but if you are going purely for light weight and small size, this might not be the best choice. ANALYSIS: Overall, the x130e is a great machine for web-surfing, along with some light-to-moderate word-processing or text editing. it is an excellent note-taking machine, and I've done a fair amount of coding on it as well. Due to the plethora of ports, as well as the Win 7 Pro OS, this is a machine you can use at work as well as at home.Read full review
