    DeeZee tailgate assist

    WE have all had that time when your hands are full or wet and the tailgate slips from your hands and BANG.......this assist is really nice , like a shock it allows for the tailgate to come down slow and easy.......if you don't have one you should get one, makes it a lot easier and safer to use your tailgate!

    review of the DZ43100 on my 04 silverado

    I installed the DZ43100 on my 04 silverado, works good however, top stud is a bit too long and rubs the tailgate when closed.I had to file down the end just to make it clear the tailgate. I added pictures to show the clearance and the rubbing. Operation of the shock works like it should, I can open the tailgate and allow it to drop by itself, I just think that the company should redesign the kit to allow better clearance of the upper stud. I have an older Silverado so the rubbing of the paint isn't a huge deal but I shouldn't have to modify the kit just to make it work. pictures added.

    Make lowering your tailgate easier

    The Dee-Zee Down Tailgate Assist was very easy to install. The kit came with all components needed during the installation including lock tite for the nuts and bolts. Once installed, it was very easy to lower the tail gate without having to hold the gate while lowering. The hydraulic lowers the gate at a controlled manner. Raising the tail gate is a bit more effort since you have to push against the tailgate assist, but it isn't a lot more effort. My wife likes lowering the tail gate much more now since she doesn't have to carry the weight of the tail gate. She has no problem closing the gate as well even with the increased effort. Well worth the cost and effort to install.
