I'd guess about 30% increase in overall computer performance.

Used this CPU to upgrade an older Dell desktop, and with the BIOS upgraded this CPU has performed very well. Without a formal measurement, I'd guess about 30% increase in overall computer performance; faster startup, faster application starts, etc. Since Intel CPUs are pretty reliable, I'm hoping this faster CPU will last for another four years, and extend the usefulness of my older computer. As far as installation, cleaning contact surfaces (lint- and dust-free and dry), and applying fresh thermal conductive grease on top of the CPU (just enough to cover the top surface), before installing the CPU heatsink, is critical to proper installation and operation.

  • Pentium 4 650 Overall this is an excellent upgrade to slower models.

This Pentium 4 650 is a very good performing cool running 775 single core Hyper threading CPU with it 3.4 GHZ / 2 Meg Cache / 800 FSB (Front Side Bus). Make sure your motherboard support this model. You may have to do a Bios update to your motherboard. Note that some HP bois update do not take or work and HP has almost zero contact support on Highly Technical issues with their products. Make sure a good CPU heat sink / fan is used, a cooper core is recommended, some regular aluminum heat sink can run hot and may damage the CPU. Be sure to also make sure Heat Sink Compound is used for good heat transfer from the top of the CPU to the Heat Sink Fan Assembly or the CPU could over heat and be damaged. Overall this is an excellent upgrade to slower models. Hope this helps,

  • Fastest single core processor I've ever used!

Pentium 4 is the fastest single core processor I,ve ever used! It's not awfully powerful like today's processors, but it runs today's programs very well! I suggest this processor for a Windows XP computer, just so you can get the most out of it. Note: Just because a processor fits in your motherboard's socket doesn't mean the BIOS will take it. Be sure your Processor model fits the motherboard, and make sure the BIOS system is upgraded to the latest version.

  • dell gx 520

Ptolong life to old machine. Just used to speed up old dell gx 520. I think that is maximum speed that this machine can support. CPU performs ok.

  • Dell GX280 runs Windows8 with Processor WEI of 4.4

Very significant upgrade to 3.4GHz from a 2.53GHz Celeron on a Dell GX280 with an Intel 915G Express Chipset. Windows 8 experience index (WEI) jumped from 3.4 to 4.4. Initially it didn't go up much but after cleaning up the old WEI XML files found in C:WindowsPerformanceWinSATDataStore and upgrading the bios from A05 to A08 it registered the new speed. It is also shows that it is now 64 bit capable and the bios shows hyperthreading is enabled.
