I've used this portable DVD drive quite a lot for various purposes since getting it a while ago. It has always worked flawlessly, which is the important thing. However, the construction is very flimsy, so I am afraid of breaking it. The holder for the DVD doesn't surround the whole disc, the open/eject button is not easy to see or use, and the drawer doesn't have enough strength to fully open, so the action has to be completed manually. I wasn't surprised by this, as I had read other reviews, but bought it anyway because its performance and compatibility with various formats seems to make it superior to most other drives in its price range. I'm skeptical about its long-term durability though.

I bought the GP60 because my XT2 does not have a CD drive. I have used it to load turbo tax and other software. It works great and is user friendly (I am not a computer expert.). I had a no name brand that didn't work well. I bought the LG on the advice of a technician that said the LG is the only brand that works properly with my computer. He was correct about the LG GP60 working well. I have had no performance issues with the GP60. It starts fast, the computer recognizes it right away, and it performs well. It was money well spent.

Bought this to burn music cds when Windows Media Player quit working. The installation discs included are by a company other than LG. There is no operation manual included but once the drivers are installed there are printable instructions available online - I found it quite confusing to try and burn a disc without them. I feel like I got my money's worth, my cds have good sound quality when I play them back in my truck and on my old boombox

I've only had this item a few days, however it seems to be working well. It is quiet and seems to burn cd's well. I'm running Sabayon Linux. During bootup the drive is recognized without errors and it creates CDs well using Brazero or CD/DVD creator. The only issue that I have noticed is that I can not read a disk that I just burned with this drive, from this drive on my system. I put the disk in my laptop internal drive and it reads without a problem. I can also plug the drive into my wife's laptop which runs Zorin OS linux and it recognizes the drive and reads the recently burned cd without any problem. Given this, I suspect it's an issue with my distro or a permissions problem. One thing to bear in mind. The current rating for this device per the sticker on the device is 1.6 amps. It comes with a single usb cable which is used for data transfer and to power the device. My laptop has usb 2.0 ports which only output 500 mA from each. This should not be enough to run the drive. However the drive appears to work flawlessly. All in all, I feel that it was a good purchase. I'm very pleased with this item and would definitely recommend it to anybody who asks about.Read full review

It has worked well for the month I have used it. A user sold it as "open box" new, but it was made in 2013! Sold it a new price as well. It is easy to use and based on longevity, it should last forever.😉
