I wanted to upgrade a Core2 2.66 GHz to a quad core, I am not ready to move up from my 775 socket. I was surprised to see how much the old technology still was. This chip was a very good compromise between speed and cost. It came in the original packaging and worked right out of the box. Now my system is a bit zippier. I would have liked to have purchased a 3.0 GHz, but don't have the bucks sitting around. This is a very satisfactory step up.
I was really impressed with the processor speed improvement. I had the Intel Core 2Duo E7300 2.66Ghz. I also went to the next Intel Xeon X3360 2.83Ghz and that really my best performance and screams.
this cpu with quad core solved all my problems with vst overload on my cubase 5 recording software if you are getting drop outs and distortion in your recording due to cpu overload this chip is the perfect solution runs relatively cool so no noisy heatsink fan needed the intel fan that came with the chip is fairly quiet i recommend this chip for cpu heavy applications
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5 GHz Processor BX80580Q9300: Quad core, supports overclocking, just remember to use fast memory ie: 1066 Ghz or better memory.
What can you say about these chips . You can almost always find them for a little over $100 and for a quad thats great .With a 6mb cache and the ability to run 3ghz easily all day what more could you want for the price. This chip wont break any oc records but it will stand the test of time.
