Scythe Kama Panel SCKMPN-2000-BK Media Card Reader
This product comes in two colours: SCKMPN-2000-BK (Black)or SCKMPN-2000-SL (Silver). I bought the SCKMPN-2000-BK from another online merchant 2 months ago. When I first opened the box I was confused with all the many cables inside. Then I quickly realised that if your pc does not have available slots in the motherboard, or external ports then almost the cables are useless. For example, this product came with 2 x USB Cables for data transfer, and one internal usb cable for your motherboard. In order for you use the two usb ports in the front panel of this device you need to have two available external usb port to connect the cables. Now if you connect the cables to two existing external usb port of your pc, what you are simply doing is transfer the usb ports from the back of your pc to the ... This same reasoning applies to the firewire connection as well. If you did not have an existing available firewire port/slot/connector in your pc then the firewire port in front of the device is useless unless you don't mind purchasing an internal firewire pci card. (Depends if you have available pci card slots in your pc).And of course, the same problem with the Sata connection. You need to have an existing sata/data/power connector in order to be able to use the front Sata port. The idea of this device coming with its own fan is neat until you discover that you will need at least 6 available fan connectors in your motherboard for the fans to work. Not only that, you might end purchasing female to female fan connectors as well. Overall, the only useful port/feature is the media card reader and fans. Who needs the rest of the features if you cannot get them to work? Or in order to get them to work you will have to purchase extra connectors or pci card or power cables, etc. Yours truly this item is over-priced!

Intel E4300, media centre work horse!
Great little CPU for a media centre, ill addmit its not state of the art, it isnt going to get you playing decent games but its idea for HD video and office work. Its cool and quiet and if you wish it will overclock quite well, even on a rubbish Micro-ATX board i was able to get it sitting stable at 2.8GHz never had the temps clock higher than 60c So fantastic for media and office, dont buy for games.Great little CPU for a media centre, ill addmit its not state of the art, it isnt going to get you playing decent games but its idea for HD video and office work. I can't afford a quad core processor, nor will my motherboard support one. However a core 2 duo processor is the next best thing and that is what I and my MB thought. It's faster than the P4 at that is the whole point. OK, it's not the 2.2 GHz product but it's still manages to do all I need to do and faster than my old processor. How long is a piece of string? Or more to the point, what do you need to use that piece of string for? This is a modestly priced efficient piece of kit, that will do most things you throw at it at a reasonably quick pace. It just depends on all the other pieces of string flying around inside the old PC case with it. In my view, I'm very pleased that I bought it.I can't afford a quad core processor, nor will my motherboard support one. Begs to be overclocked .Won't be worth a tenner in two years. So buy one,look up any article on google under "e4300 overclock" copy the steps shown.And be amazed. Read a few articles if you are still worried.Difficulty Rating (for novice)-piece of urine.Cheap fun... With minor adjusting to the bios at startup it should run day in and day out at 2.2GHz.With recent Asus and many other Brands you only change one setting and the clever motherboard does the rest for you.Yes,they expect you to overclock ! I have a basic Asus P5B board-so you can guess which article I copied. This applies to every core2duo from the e 2140 to the e Xpensive cpu. It makes most applications visibly faster but not games.However if you have a middle to top end graphics card you will see a difference as a processor ... At the time of writing a E2180 (2gz 1mb cache) costs just over £40 new, so if you can pick one of these, a E4400/4500/4600, up for around £30-40 then you have a good deal. All should be capable of 3Ghz+ on basic aftermarket air cooling, (AC Freezer 7 is cheap but effective) and they have an extra 1mb of cache over the E2xx0 series which give extra performance in intensive tasks like games. They also have a low starting FSB of 200mhz compared to the E6xx0 & E8x00 of 266mhz/333mhz, which means that they are much more overclockable on cheapo motherboards which have much lower FSB ceilings than performance parts. Of course if you are after extreme performance then you should be looking at spending much more on a E8x00/Q9xx0, but one of these chips will give you very good performance on a ...
