    Value for money upgrade for those horrible LGA775 Celerons

    I just needed to get rid (burn and destroy) an old Celeron from the PC I was upgrading. After careful research on which CPU the motherboard could take – I opted for this one. I didn’t go mad and pick the most powerful, quad-core processor. I needed to stay in-budget, without the need to change the PSU. All things being considered, and with a slight upgrade in the CPU fan, I got the PC a fantastic upgrade. I installed Win10 and the PC is much more usable than before. Highly recommend this CPU.

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400S

    The CPU arrived really late for me. I am just glad it arrived. The Quad Q8400S, I give it 3 stars, because it runs at 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. And that is pretty normal according to different sites. Of course, I put in the proper chemical paste, heat sink, and fans to keep it cool. However, really, its not worth it from a power (watts) and performance perspective.

    The 4 Meg cache strangles the power of this chip

    This chip is cheap for a reason, they only enabled 4 megs of cache. The reviewrs trying to sell you these who say thier as good a q9550 are full of it. I have owned a q6600, which is the better of the low end quads. I have also owned a qx6850, a q9650, e5200, e6300, and an e6600 that had the 4 meg cache on the dual core chip. The Cache is what makes all the difference. I over clocked most chips ... so i was able to compare the chips at the same speeds ... the q6600,qx6850, and q9650 crushed everything else. The big diffence, 8 and 12 megs of cache. The Q9650 can beat a low end icore(920/930) for the same reason. Not in all tests , because of the direct memory link, but for everyday stuff, and gaming ... more cache. the processor speed is secondary to the cache size. Also if you ...

    Quick and easy upgrade

    Purchased this to upgrade my Intel Core 2 Duo CPU to a quad core CPU. Performs very well despite being used in a temp gaming rig and its age. Yes i recommend this as an upgrade for older pc's.
