The EF-530 DG SUPER is designed to work with both AF 35mm SLR and digital cameras of all the popular manufacturers. The EF-530 DG SUPER is a multifunctional shoe mount type flash that provides a large amount of light, featuring a guide number of 53/m (174/ft) w/ISO 100. Among the diverse features of this flash, are the Autozoom function, which automatically sets the illumination angle in accordance with the focal length of the lens; TTL exposure control, which automatically regulates the amount of light; bounce and swivel head functions, which come in very handy for bounce photography; FP flash, which is capable of synchronizing the flash illumination with high shutter speeds; and the rear curtain synchro flash mechanism, which makes delayed synchro photography possible. A wireless slave function is also available for use with compatible cameras.

Sweet and sour
I own or have owned several flashes that are comparable, Canon, Metz, and now Sigma. This flash has the worst build quality, but is also by far the cheapest. I'm not saying the build quality is horrible, its just not as nice, kinda like comparing a L lens to a kit lens, both are good, but L's just feel better. This flash is supposedly a copy of the Canon 550 EX (ironicly my sigma super is replacing my 550 ex because I could buy a sigma super for less than I could fix the 550 ex. The Sigma doesn't do ratios between master and slave as a masterwith 2 speedlites, canon 550ex's do. To use ratios you must have 3 speedlites. The Sigma will not remember how you had it set previously, pretty annoying, also the sigma will not automaticly revert to hi speed sync mode if you shutter speed drops ... The user interface is a bit funky, but is pretty easy to get used to. The memory and hi speed synce issue are a big enough deal that I will not use these flashes as a stand alone on camera flash for event photography. Despite the draw backs I bought another sigma super (I have 2 now)rather than get another 550 ex, cant beat the price. I have used my sigma supers with a 580 ex and a 420 ex as both master and slave and they fuction with the same accuracy and reliability as the genuine canon units. The sigmas do seem to cycle a bit slower and eat batteries faster. Simga super flashes well worth the money as a cheap powerful and reliable slave. The addition of a setting memory and auto hi speed sync would make them a MUCH better master.

Good Flash
This flash is great with just two flaws. One is that the flash has just a little wobble when it is mounted to the camera. the other is that you need to make sure that every time you turn on your camera you go to the camera menu and select ADI flash. This will help with concistancy as I noticed that sometimes the exposure would be off till I manually selected ADI. Other than that for the price you will be thrilled. The built in diffuser works perfect for fill flash and the bounce flash make natural looking photos taken indoors. buy it if you can!This flash is great with just two flaws. Lots of features for the money
I trust Sigma brand since I found out about their lenses´s quality matching or sometimes exceeding some other brands such as Canon and Nikon. At first, Sigma was conceived by photographers as the guys who built generic equipment for other more solid brands, but that has changed recently due to the development Sigma has been getting into. They have established themselves as a solid developing brand on the market. This flash is no Sigma´s exception. It doesn´t feel as sturdy as Nikon´s or Canon´s flagship models indeed, but this will get the job done. It has the features I need and works flawlessly. Sigma EF-530 DG SUPER TTL Flash for Canon
It proforms asgood as the Canon 580, BUT more than 1/3rd the cost. GREAT if you are not a pro, and/or do not use it all the time.

Excellent Flash when compared to the other flashes and the money you spend for the other ones. This one gets your Job done and also built strong. I love it so far the wireless function works great. triggers multiple flashes at the same time. Great buy!!!!
