NBA 2K9 is a great game for all gamers. This game has great graphics and a variety of camera angles. When I play I use the preset camera angle, but you can adjust the angle in a ton of ways. This game also incorporates play calling and many different common plays seen in real NBA games. For example alley oops, dunks, clutch threes, momentum etc. When a player starts making a few shots they get in rhythm and don't miss very often. But when a player is controlled poorly and bad shots are taken and missed, that player gets out of rhythm and usually misses until there are good decisions from the gamer. I also liked how the game had T Mobile, Sprite, and Gatorade advertising in it. The game really makes you feel like you are watching a real NBA game. The graphics are as good as they get as of now. The ratings are a little off for some players but they are ok. This game is really great, especially for sports and NBA fans.Read full review
Let me start off by saying that visually this game looks very real. It is slightly better than 2k8. The controls have improved a little as well as player movement looks realistic. Unfortunately this game is marred by many problems. The computer almost never misses a 3-point shot, and they take a lot of shots! It is very rare that they ever miss a free throw,(how often do you ever see Shaq make every free throw?). While inbounding the ball sometimes your player will just throw it out of bounds even if someone is standing directly in front of him. A couple of times I couldn't even get him to inbound the ball. The computer cand drive down the lane at any given time, but if you try then good luck because rest assured you will be greeted by at least 2 or 3 players right in your face. Free throw shooting isn't as fun since you don't use the sixaxis, now it's the control stick. The game is fun to play even though you will need to tweak the settings and rules in the game to make it fair. Hopefully the next game in the series will address these issues.Read full review
After playing the demos of the other basketball games available I decided on NBA 2k9. It doesn't disappoint the gameplay and franchise mode is great and deep also and the graphics are very good. However there are some gripes: -Online is ok, suffers some lag and people who don't like to play all the way through -I could do without the moving menu screens -Some glitches and bugs that are extremely annoying Overall NBA 2k9 is good game that is fun to play regardless of the glitches that plague it.
I llike the game because it looks so real. I love that it shows replays during and after the quarters of actual highlights from YOUR game and not something off T.V. or no freeze frame picture. What I don't like is that its so hard to beat. I can have a good lead one quarter then all of a sudden my opponent goes on a run and my team goes cold. It seems like the cpu makes unbelievable shots no matter how tight your "D" is but my team tends to miss easily shots. But all in all this game is tight. Its the best basketball game I've ever played.
The game is very realistic and entertaining. Ive been an NBA LIVE guy since the 90's but ive now changed and for the better. The similarity between the game players and their real counterparts is insane... (Like Lebron James biting his nails all the time). It does have a couple of annoying bugs and rules (goaltendings are out of line) but the game delivers and its the best basketball sim ive played, period.
