About this product

Product Information

With the Linksys WRT610N 270 Mbps 4-port Gigabit wireless N router from Cisco, you can get rid of all of the wires on your desk and remove clutter by moving to wireless router technology. The Linksys WRT610N wireless router provides four ports of access for users and high speeds of up to 270 Mbps, making it a fast, efficient wireless router. The four ports allow you to connect your wire Ethernet devices to this Cisco Linksys router, or you can use the dual-band wireless access point for hassle-free, wireless connectivity at any location that is reached by the wireless broadcast. With a fast, wait-free speed, this Linksys router model is an ideal machine for streaming videos, gaming, or voice over IP (VOIP) telephone access. The Linksys WRT610N 270 Mbps 4-port Gigabit wireless N router is great for a small business setting, a home office, or even for your home’s family network. The Linksys name means this model is guaranteed to work with all the major web browsers, and Linksys designs its routers for easy configuration and easy installation following the installation prompts on your computer screen. Linksys by Cisco routers are designed to be simultaneous dual-band wireless N Gigabit routers and are designed to let you access the Internet via a wireless connection or even from a wired connection via one of the four switched ports. The Linksys WRT610N 270 GBPS router is designed with a built-in storage link to easily add gigabytes of storage space onto your network by simply adding USB 20 hard drives, or you can even plug in a USB flash disk into the USB input to access portable data files. The Linksys WRT610N wireless N router has a built-in media server to stream music, video, and photos from the attached storage devices to any UPnP-compatible media adapter, making it easy to access your media from anywhere that you can connect to the wireless router. The Linksys WRT610N router can also create two simultaneous yet separate Wireless-N networks. One using the 5 GHz band and one using the 2.4 GHz band, allowing you to use one GHz network to surf the Internet, check your email, and print via wireless router while keeping the other GHz network open for less crowded streaming. This creates a lower traffic network for time-sensitive items, such as streaming music, playing video games, or watching high-definition video. The front panel of the Linksys by Cisco router has a series of colored LED buttons to display status, such as Wi-Fi protected status, status lights for the numbered input ports for wired connection, USB, power, and wireless status. The back panel of the Linksys WRT610N features a USB port and an Internet port where you can connect your cable or DSL Internet connection as well as four Ethernet ports to connect the router to computers or other Ethernet network devices. The Linksys WRT610N 270 Mbps 4-port Gigabit Wireless N Router is an ideal router solution for anyone who wants fast, wait-free speed for streaming videos or VOIP as well as connecting wired Ethernet machines to create a network that can be accessible wirelessly from anywhere within range.

    Excellent Performance for the price!

With both 2.4 & 5 GHZ, File Sharing (via the USB port and an external drive), and decent speed; these are one of the best routers a home owner or small business user could ask for. If you tack on the fact that you can throw on DD-WRT for even more functionality; it's a very versatile and fast unit.

    Overheating Bootlooping Router

Overheating bootlooping router that in my case came with a undercurrent power adapter of 500mA and rebooted every 2 seconds. Then I had to buy an extra power adapter of 2A (rating according to Router label) so now the router reboots everytime I demand some network traffic because it gets VERY HOT... I bought it looking for a "scrap value" good Router, but it's not worth even scrap. Go buy something else.

  • Excellent Router for the Advance User

This router is great for gaming and setting up multiple wireless devices, but it is a bit over priced for the basic network user. I upgraded my network from a Linksys WRT150N router, thinking that this would be a major improvement. I was wrong. The WRT610N router did give me a stronger signal strengths, but unless you have an wireless N adapter on every device you are connecting to your network; you will not be able to fully utilize the dual frequency technology. So keep it simple, if your not an advid online gamer or don't have multiple wireless N devices, then stick with a more inexpensive model, like the Linksys E1000 or the DLink DIR615. Both of these routers work well for simplified wireless connectivity. Since making this purchase and getting a great price for the WRT610N, I ...

  • Nice Router For The Home Etc...

I bought this router as a refurbished Linksys product here on E-Bay and it was a very good deal. I had read reviews of the WRT610N that were both favorable and unfavorable so I thought with a price this good I would give it a try in my home network setup. My router is mounted under the staircase to my basement using the very handy built in wall mounting slots and a couple of wood screws. One of the negatives I had read about was hot running. After a week of moderate to heavy use transferring files around between computers and streaming Netflix I checked the temperature of the device using an IR temp gun and the hottest spot that I could find on the face was about 95 degrees in a 70 degree room. I didn't think this was bad and I wonder if the vertical mounting helps with this ...

The Pros: The connectivity is reliable. The signal strength is good (on the 2.4 Ghz band, but not on the 5Ghz band). The web interface is easy to use. I hooked up an external hard drive to the USB port and turned on the media server. That worked nice. I like the Wireless N capability although I am only getting 144 Mbs speeds. Its very sleek looking. I like that it has wired Gigabit performance. The Cons: The 5Ghz band put out a very weak signal. So bad that I am not using it. That was very disapointing. While in N-mode on the 2.4Ghz band I am only getting 144 Mbs speed. I am not sure if this is my problem or the routers problem. I am still working it out.
