I upgraded from a Canon PIXMA MX 882, because it's the latest model that uses the same ink tanks. The performance is great. much like its predecessor, but the one issue I could not resolve is the printer dropping the wireless connection with my AT&T U-Verse router. I have made several calls to both Canon and AT&T technical support, followed their troubleshooting tips, but without lasting success. Canon now revealed the dropping is a "known issue" with AT&T routers and the practice of turning the printer on and off to reestablish the connection would consume more ink. I have now wired it with a USB cable which works splendidly, but defeats the purpose of having a wireless printer.

Don't waste your money! With the built in obsolescence disguised as "errors" by Canon, you'll be lucky to get a year's worth of use out of this machine as supported by the lawsuit Canon received. I have had three of these machines because when they worked, they out-performed all of their contemporaries with function and options. Great printer...lousy company.

The product it great for doing what I need. But it's downfall is that it is not serviceable if anything needs fixing....like changing a printer head or any other parts. Once it gets a dreaded error message, you have to buy another printer! I had one exactly like this one for many, many years and was happy with it because I kept it cleaned and covered it to keep dust out when not in use. Canon did a great job in putting in features that I wanted, but could have done a better job if they made it serviceable.

I had a printer just like this for years and I used it for all my personal card making, business cards, envelopes, special mailings, I do a lot for personal fun, church, and Veterans (our local American Legion) I printed many many beautiful photos...Posters, labels etc. It was great for many years and even though I just bought another new one, I plan on getting the old one fixed for a backup....best printer I ever had!!

I purchased this as a USED printer. My old MX 882 died with LOTS of ink left. With ink being more expensive than printers (!), and with non-Canon ink having ruined a previous Canon printer, I didn't want to waste my existing ink. I purchased the MX 892 on EBAY from a highly rated seller since the 892 uses the same ink cartridges as the MX 882. The printer came nicely packaged with the owner's manual and (MOST IMPORTANTLY!) the disk drive that accompanied the printer. Without the disk I would not have been able to use the printer. In addition, the owner was kind enough to send the printer with ink cartridges that still had some ink, saving me some $$. I had great difficulty getting the printer to work, mainly because the "paper source" defaulted to "cartridge" and it took me awhile to figure out how to change the default paper source. The print quality itself is very good...exactly like my old MX882. Read full review
