I had used a Canon Selphy CP740 years ago and liked the prints that it produced. My first unit was damaged in moving from one residence to another. I came across the listing, saw that it was a new unit at an excellent price and decided to buy. I have a substantial amount of paper and cartridges left from the first unit, and because the 'ink' doesn't dry out I can use my 12 year old stock of materials. The postcard sized prints (4x6) that this printer produces are excellent for albums or sending to others. The 4 star rating is because of 1. cost per print, 2. speed of printing, and 3. somewhat noisy. The rating should be 4.5. I have attached a print from this machine to show the output. This unit also has several ways of accepting photos to print, including it's own retractable USB cable, and is small enough to be portable.Read full review

I owned one and after a couple of years it would not feed the paper. So, I purchased another one and it, from the beginning, came up with an error code that said "no ink" when there was actually a new cartridge in. So the new printer would not work from the start. No place tosend it so I have a piece of junk and no printer.

pro's prints a very good picture, light weight, easy to load film and ink.. very light weight so it makes for convenient to use every where. Con's it take a minute to print runs the photo through several time to finish picture, its not the cheapest printer to use however the quality out weighs the price overall if you need portability with excellent quality this is the printer to have.

I wanted a printer to use as a portable printer that is small and light weight and is also moderate in cost to use. It runs about $30.00 for 108 postcard sized prints. The printer only works as j peg in a moderate about 5 mega-pixel format. It has no editing functions . I used it while taking ski school classes, and enjoyed passing out shots at the end of a day. The pictures are of decent quality , and although slow the printer does what is supposed to.
I love the Selphys but beginners need to know they run only on real Canon "ink" cartridges and Selphy-specific paper. You can download a driver and some software from Canon's website. I recommend EZ Photo Print which you have to get for the CP510 but it works with this. Disadvantages of this model are a tiny LCD and no option to use with a battery, but you can often find these for a small fraction of the price of the current model. You will also need the paper tray and AC adapter for this to work.
