About this product

Product Information

The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard works to combine performance, flexibility, durability, security, and efficiency. These motherboards achieve performance and flexibility for your desktop computer by supporting a wide range of upgrades and technologies. It has enhanced durability thanks to reinforced parts and features. Its security comes in the form of configurable encryption. This motherboard gets its efficiency gains by dynamically switching energy use based on current needs. This Intel board serves well in either a main computer or as a dedicated server for specialized tasks. The durable board's CPU socket is compatible with Intel Core 2, Pentium, and Celeron processors. The front side bus supports the standard 1600/1333/1066/800 MHz frequencies. The north bridge uses the Intel P45 Express Chipset, while the south bridge uses the Intel ICH10R. It has 4 DDR2 DIMM slots for RAM that provide 1.8V and handle up to 16GB of memory. This uses dual-channel memory architecture for greater speed. The BIOS has two sets of 16MB flash memory, and runs the AWARD BIOS. It has support for Dual BIOS and PnP 1.0a, DMI 2.0, SM BIOS 2.4, and ACPI 1.0b. This motherboard is a stable system for overclocking for ultra-fast results. The high definition audio is provided by Realtek using the ALC889A codec. The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard supports audio channels 2, 4, 5.1, and 7.1. The latter two allow you to use full surround sound. It also supports Dolby Home Theater. The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard has several connections. Sound comes with S/PDIF in and out connections, along with CD in. Two Realtek 8111C series chips provide LAN Ethernet at any of 10, 100, or 1000 Mbit speeds. Several expansion slots are provided to add more peripherals and hardware. Two of these are PCI Express 16 expansions slots, one at x16 and the other running at x8. Additionally, there are three PCI Express x1 slots and two PCI slots. For IEEE support, there is a T.I. TSB43AB23 chip and three IEEE 1394a ports. These should help with connecting legacy devices. The South Bridge has six more modern SATA 3Gb/s connectors for your storage devices. The SATA RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 will help with data retention. The Gigabyte SATA2 chip has one IDE connector that can handle 2 IDE devices. These support the ATA 133, 100, 66, and 33 formats. Two more SATA 3 Gb/s connections provide support for SATA's RAID 0, 1, and JBOD. This is largely intended as a backup drive system. An iTE IT8718 chip is provided to handle floppy drives. The ATI CrossFireX graphics card provides high quality graphical imaging for gaming, video, and more. With many accessories relying on USB ports, there are twelve USB 2.0 or 1.0 ports. Eight of these are on the back and four more are inside. Another port is integrated in the south bridge. To support the mouse and keyboard, it comes with two separate PS/2 ports. There are two RJ-45 ports for the LAN, as well as 6 audio jacks for the various sound out lines. The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard was designed with Microsoft XP and Vista operating systems in mind. Powered by an Intel CPU, it can be used as a general purpose system. However, it would shine as a dedicated system, such as a home network controller. It could house emails and connect to a small array of hard drives to act as a database.

Flexible features in an old board

If you need an all around good computing motherboard then the Gigabyte GA EP-45 UD3P is a good board to use. It may not run the most demanding games of today BUT it is an excellent choice when choosing a motherboard for desktop productivity due to the flexible options available to configure a system using this board. It can still run some of those good old games that are not as demanding when properly overclocked and tweaked for performance. When teamed up with a Q9550 processor and adequate memory this board can be very economical at todays prices. Highly recommended.

  • Good MOBO for backward compatibility

I had a lot of IDE interfaced hardware and that was very helpful on rebuilding my old gig. I will probably change the Processor cooler later, but overall it is only sad that it doesn't have an usb 3.0 interface port

  • Best socket 775 board out there!

This board supports my Intel Quad-Core Duo Extreme Q9770 (which I believe is the fastest socket 775 CPU out there), so it's extremely fast. What's exceptionally nice is the amount of options in the BIOS! This board seems to be meant for overclocking and with the options, I can overclock just about anything. It's also extremely stable and if I try pushing something too hard and the system doesn't like it, the machine will automatically detect that it can't post and after two or three times trying, it'll default to the old configuration (or the default, not sure which), which allows me to just go back into the BIOS and tweak settings. There's no need for me to open up the case and clear the CMOS settings manually.

  • Solid Feature Rich Motherboard !

I purchased a used Gigabyte motherboard (model ga.ep45.ud3p) two months ago. At first I had some difficulty with the BIOS not recognizing my hard drive. I updated the BIOS, solving the disk identification issue. This board has six SATA II ports controlled by Intel’s ich10 Southbridge and two additional SATA II ports using a Gigabyte SATA2 chip for a total of 8 SATA ports. I could not get the Gigabyte ports to recognize my SATA DVD drive so I connected it to an ICH10 port for the Windows install. After installing Windows and current drivers, my DVD drive can use the Gigabyte SATA ports. The now-current firmware allowed swapping the of the dual core processor for a quad core Xeon (X3370 @ 3GHz with 12 MB L2 cache). I am impressed with how many different processors this board supports. ...
