Excellent cycling GPS...Only thing missing is the Temperature. Has all the other features you could want. It's water resistant. If you have the que sheet for a future ride, you can map it out on Garmin Connect and send it to this GPS as a course and get turn by turn directions. With the HRM and Cadence sensor you can track your health and fitness to see how well you're progressing. Customizable display lets you see just what you want and you can skip the rest. Very easy to use and there are lots of videos online to guide you. Great GPS..Matt
I have used this on several rides now and love it! With the optional cadence sensor and the ability to read my PowerTap, through ANT technology, it has everything I need, except for a temperature reading. It is big, but that allows for a lot of data to be displayed at once. I really like how I can customize the screen I am viewing. The software isn't the greatest, but not bad. You have to download your data to retrieve it to review or write in your training log. It is fairly easy to use. It is accurate. I like the mount. It is an expensive purchase, but I think it is worth it.
I could not give a 5 star rating because of a few draw backs. First the Garmin Edge 705 is a nice piece of equipment, does most things it is supposed to. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a great bike computer. The draw backs that I have noticed thus far are; the screen is too small especially for those of us with aging eyes. My biggest issue is following a mapped out a ride that crosses over or goes by a previous road, it will take you the wrong way, very Bad! Once this happens it will disregard the rest of the route and try to take you back the wrong way even if you are on the correct route. This is a major issue especially if you are in unfamiliar territory. Lastly, you can not use the cadence sensor with out the speed sensor so if the speed sensor is not functioning properly your distance and speed will be incorrect the GPS speed function will not over ride the speed sensor. Heart rate monitor works like a charm. All in all I still recommend this item.Read full review
NEEED A RELIABLE CARDIAC MONITOR FOR MY CYCLE TRAINING. MISSED MY OLD POLAR SETUP AND THOUGHT THIS WOULD WORK, PLUS ALL THE ADDED FEATURES GPS, CALORIES USED, DOWN LOADABLE INFO,CADENCE, ETC. LIKE THE FACT I CAN CHANGE ALL MY OWN BATTERIES, UNLIKE THE POLAR UNIT , WHERE I HAD TO SEND IT BACK TO THE FACTORY. ONLY DRAWBACK I SEE IS I NEED ANOTHER PROGRAM TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE GPS FEATURE(MAPS PROGRAM). THE PREPROGAMMED GPS PICKS OUT MAJOR HIGHWAYS, NOT INDIVIDUAL STREETS, SO IT IS LIMITED IN THAT RESPECT. THIS AUCTION WAS FOR A BUNDLE, MEANING IT HAD MOST OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED ALREADY. IT WAS ALSO VERY REASONABLY PRICED FOR A NEW UNIT, $300.00. ALSO LIKE THE LARGER SCREEN DISPLAY.
My wife is an avid cyclist and she just had a new Waterford bike bult over the winter. So the Garmin Edge was the perfect gift for Mother's Day. She was very excited and our son installed it for her. She has found it to extremely useful....it gives miles, calories burned, can retain routes, and of course do all the things a regular GPS does except about 1/3 the size. We would highly recommend this product.
