I chose to upgrade my Memory from 4 GB to 8 GB in my 2011 MacBook Pro. Purchased two of these "Crucial" memory boards. Was easy to install without trouble. Works perfectly.
Adding this ram to a first generation i5 dell latitude e4310 was just to boost it needed to stream youtube and videos in general. i have had no freezes since upgrading the ram. If you want to speed up your laptop start with the ram and then change to an ssd.
