One of the last solid IDE/PATA hard drives
I loved Maxtor. I was very lucky sticking with Maxtor. Since Seagate acquired Maxtor, I've bought Seagate and have been also very fortunate with them. With that said, this hard drive is pretty good. It is one of the last IDE/PATA drives that Seagate has released and it also happens to have perpendicular technology, which will help quite a bit in platter density and performance in terms of maxing out the bandwidth potential. I'm sure there are other solutions like WD that continues to make some decent IDE solutions, but I was never happy with them when they are the primary boot drive with the OS on them. It would always seem to put too much stress on them... but I digress. Anyways, this hard drive has improved boot times slightly on an very aging P4 system and it should be fine given ... Highly recommended for recording studio...HDD recording needs stable Hd's for reproducing audio files abs Seagate has what it takes...
