The Yiddish I heard as a child is lost to my families’ future generations, so I thought it would be fun to share this book. It’s enjoyable, and I had quite a chuckle.

I bought this book to add to my "Dick and Jane" collection of school readers. This is NOT the typical Dick and Jane book, and would not be appropriate for elementary readers -- but it is funny as all get out for adults. I loved the book. Yes, I learned some Yiddish from it (which I expected), but more so, I laughed uproariously (which I did not expect.) I read it to my husband, who also laughed uproariously. Its humor caught us both off-guard several times. If you are looking for innocent Dick, Jane and Sally stories, this book is not for you. If, however, you are willing to open your mind to finding those same characters functioning as adults in today's world and seeing one of them with a bit of "bite", I predict you will enjoy Yiddish with Dick and Jane immensely.
Written with a wonderful sense of humor. A fun way to introduce this generation to Yiddish phrases. Loved it and have bought a few as gifts.

The book was written as a very basic introduction to this wonderful language. It uses stories to introduce words in their context. Like most books of this genre, they are really fun for young learning minds.
really, funnier than H***
