AS goes for any Nikon camera there are an abundance of lenses available. This particular camera was sold as a parts camera but once I recieved it I decided it was in good enough shape to repair. I am currently using the camera and love it. I normaly find the N2020 to be very sturdy and when it does break most anyone with some mechanical background and the time can fix a majority of the problems that occure with this camera. The N2020feels good in my hands and is heavy enough to hold steady some of the lighter cameras seem to shake more. overall other than the (back) film door This is a great camera but the latch for the film door is weak and breaks often. There are metal latches (aftre market) that correct this problem . If your looking for a relitivly inexpecsive camera that has many of the bells and whisels of the more expensive cameras this is a great choice.Read full review
I recently purchased a Nikon N2020 after years of using point and shoot cameras. The improvement in my pictures is amazing. No more pictures with the head missing or of the subject out of focus. The automatic programs allow even beginners to take excellent portraits and "special" technique photos. I highly reccommend a 28-80mm or a 28-105mm lens to cover the most common photo requirements. The added bulk of an SLR is easily accommodated with the wide variety of cases available.
The Nikon N2000 was my first SLR camera, now i have two of them and a N2020 it's AF sister. The N2000 is an excellent starter camera. This is not a light weight camera, the heft comes form its mostly metal construction. The shutter speed is set via a knob that can be easily used while looking through the view finder. The light meter is easy to use, it tells you what shutter speed to use based on what aperture you have selected. there is a little film advancement indicator on the door, leets you see if the the film is advancing. Also with the 1/4000 sec possible shutter speed, stopping motion is easy, it also means with enought light you can hand hold with a 1000mm,2000m+ lens! Both the N2000 and the n2020 can use either AA or AAA batteries, making it cheap to operate, and easy to get batteries in a pinch. DEFINITELY A KEEPER!! I konw when i eventually switch to digital, i will keep atleast one of my n2000'sRead full review
My brother in Minnesota brought me one of the great Nikon lenses, the AF-S 17-35 ED lens which was meant to be used in my D70 digital. However, I've always thinking of putting it in a film camera for some film shooting, which suits more of my taste. For this reason, I've to look for a AF Nikon film camera.Fortunately, I got this one in ebay for less than $50. I'm very satisfied with the condition of this N2020 but haven't tried with the ED lens yet. Will probably write more to tell you about the shots next time. Have a good day !
My wife spotted the N2020 at A garage sale with 35-70 mm lens several (probably at least 12) years ago. My 35mm SLR camera was in the shop being repaired and she asked if the "Nikon" with lens might be worth $200. We went back to the garage sale. Nice condition camera with the stated lens with a Nikon SB 23 flash.
Kid selling it didn't really have a clue what he had. I paid stated dollars and took it home. When I discovered what the camera was capable of, I fell in love with it. I had never owned an autofocus SLR camera prior to this one, and have not been disappointed. It was nice that I could still use it on manual focus, as well as autofocus. When I put the flash on it, and took a picture in what was pitch black, I was very leary of the flash focusing the Camera (TTL). Picture was very clear, sharply focused, nice. This camera can do so much more than I have ever used it for!
It's main drawback at this time is that Nikon, and others, have made some awfully nice cameras since this one was made. I own 1 more N2020, 1 N6006, 2 N8008, and 1 N8008s. And I recently sold 2 N6006's that I had. Nikon does a really nice job of building cameras. For the price you will pay currently for a nice N2020, you will not be disappointed!Read full review
