I've only had this phone for 1 day and so maybe my review won't be as "fair" as it should had I owned this phone for a few weeks. For an "entry-level" touchscreen, this phone does well. You can adjust the sensitivity level for the touchscreen depending on what works for you. The QWERTY keyboard could stand to have larger keys but since I have rather small hands and small fingers, the QWERTY keyboard worked fine. I wouldn't recommend this phone for larger hands. The touchscreen can be a bit "touchy"...I recommend LOTS of patience when starting out with this phone. If you are looking for a speedy touchscreen, this won't be your best bet. Sometimes if your finger is slightly on the option below or above the one you want to pick it gets confused (for example: contact list) and will usually pick the one you DON'T want. I read a lot of reviews prior to deciding on this phone. I also went to a Verizon store and "played" around with their sample phone. It's a good texting phone. And the touchscreen is "ok" but takes some time getting used to. It definitely is NOT an iPhone so don't expect it to behave like one. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied.Read full review
Don't expect much from this phone. It has horrible usability and a limited feature set. I bought this as a temporary replacement phone until new activation. It is doing its job. I can make/receive phone calls and use the sms messages just fine. However, if you want to do anything other than these, it fails horribly because of its broken usability. The scrolling is really bad. It sometimes triggers a click event when you are dragging the screen for scrolling. Also, for some features, there is no back button to get out of the current state to access other features. The web browser is downright unusable because of the screen size and the scrolling bug. However, considering how cheap it is, it would serve as a good temporary/back-up phone. Just don't expect this to be a Droid.
First off I am on my second model of Glyde...Apparently there were so many glitches and bugs with the first gen they revamped the software and functionality to repair. I like this phone. It was not all I hoped it to be but is better than previous phone (LG Chocolate 1st gen). So the good, the keyboard is bomb for texting! Easy to use, and since it slides open well hidden in the phone. ake good pictures and video clips, printable quality... Dont like...Lack of consistency from touch screen, lock unlock feature...speaker phone is kinda weak, picture take to long to shoot, menus are a pain to navigate... Its a good phone, cute and fun, but I would reccomend not getting touch screen as it is probably just a fad for now adn will soon fizzle out realizing that a touch screen in out pockets is not the best of ideas.Read full review
I bought this phone for the price because my phone was stole 1 yr before contract renewal with Verizon. I didnt want to renew my contract just yet and wanted to try going month - month. This phone is not terrible for the price I paid 53.00, but It is definitely below the standard for what is out now which makes it incomparable. Its even kind of a pain in the ass at times with the drag lock that doesnt unlock accurately every time you drag or the send and end button is not convenient when msging or phone calling especially with the drag lock...The worst part is that this is a model that is one step behind verizon. Meaning that this model doesnt get updated when verizon has updates. I can not get ringtones in my phone from verizon because to them, this phone is obsolete and they wont link programming to it to update my features. The ringtones on here are ancient. The ringer volume stinks...I can never hear my phone ringing if I am in other room or phone in purse. There, Ive said it all. Buy it if you are being cheap, but not for any other reason. There are so many better options for a little more money.Read full review
I bought this for my son whose other Verizon phone broke. I wanted to get an older phone, because virtually all the new Verizon phones are 'smartphones', with mandatory data storage fees (they won't even activate it if you don't agree to jack your monthly charges) regardless if you have no plans to use it for mobile web! Anyway, my son reports that the Glyde works okay, but the touch screen is inconsistently dependable. Thus, I can't really recommend it, except to say the Glyde has more features than those crappy ones you get free for signing up and cheaper than getting a replacement from Verizon by adding two more years added to your service contract.
