This movie came to my attention when I read about Jeff 'The Dude' Bridges playing with his band at an Obama campaign in North Carolina. After I did some research in the Internet, I remembered him to win an Oscar for his role. So i decided to look for a used copy on eBay. I like the movie because of its story of an aged and worn-down country musician who goes through some odds. Most of them are in connection with his abuse of alcohol. The fact that everybody can change his or her life applies to my personal life as well, although I'm not a musician ;-) Jeff Bridges sings: "I used to be somebody, now I am somebody else." I guess he has made a lifetime of being somebody else and he is one of the actors who keep getting better at it the older they get.
