works great. I was able to install windows 8.1 but not windows 10, on my dell inspirion 600m this processor works much faster than the stock processor which installed by the Dell manufacturer. however, the system indicates that it is operating at 1.7 speed, not the 2.26 as advertised. I don't understand why the speed is not 2.26 and there is no way to tweak the bios to make the processor work at any faster speed

I've replaced the CPU in two (2) of my Dell D610 laptops that had the Intel 1.73Ghz CPU's with these "Intel 2.26Ghz" CPU and they work perfectly. I have a 3rd Dell D610 with the Intel 1.60Ghz CPU and ordered another Intel 2.26Ghz CPU and 19.5v @ 4.62A power supply charger for that laptop as well. NOTE: if you upgrade to this Intel 2.26Ghz CPU...You might want to invest in a power Supply charger that's 19.5v @ 4.62A because the stock Dell power supply charger is only a 19.5v @ 3.34A and you wont get the full performance of this Intel 2.26Ghz CPU and may even get a "Bios system Post" when you boot up your system after the installation telling you to upgrade your power supply or disable the BIOS System Post so you don't get the Post warning message.!!! You can still use your laptop...it will just perform as if it still has the lower 1.60Ghz, 1.73Ghz CPU. The reason I have 3 D601's is because I was just wanting to get a cheap D610 with a good screen and didn't expect the first one I bought was in new condition, It even had the clear plastic that covers the power and speaker buttons, So I just upgraded it with this 2Mb of Ram and this Intel 2.26Ghz CPU...Also ordered the 19.5v @4.62A power supply charger for it. I bought the 3rd D610 thinking it would be just for the screen and that one is like new as well so I've up the memory to 2GMb and bought this Intel 2.26Ghz CPU for it too. The screen on my original D610 started getting horizontal lines across the top but it stopped with only two lines after I bought the 1st new D610.Read full review

Wanted to breath life into an aging Sony Vaio VGN FS600 laptop. The processor it came with struggled to play YouTube videos and surfing the net on it was choppy. After the upgrade the old girl could play YouTube content even at 720p! Also, web browsing was now a lot smoother. Especially heavy sites. Very glad I got the chip.

Every once in a while one encounters an older laptop , whether they are restoring it for a sale or personal use. In the case of older laptops, some were equipped with an intel processor called "pentium M Centrino", which was a single core processor in the Pentium IV family. The Pentium 780 Model M processor, in my experience, runs about the same clock speed as some AMD dual core processors, which are newer. Keep in mind that on this family of processors that the 2.26 is also the highest speed model that was made. It can be used to upgrade the laptops with processors from 1.60 Ghz to 2.13 Ghz, as long as they are the same family of processors.
