Overall I'm pleased, and wouldn't hesitate to buy again. I upgraded my early '90s black top 51 to the equivalent of a 55 with this kit. Check your parts thoroughly, I didn't get any piston pin clips with mine, I was able to reuse my original clips, though the description clearly states new ones are included. My saw is an early '90s model, '91 if I'm deciphering the serial number correctly. My original cylinder used hex head bolts to attach to the crank case. There's no way to fasten hex head bolts on this new cylinder, the holes provide for a socket or nut driver are too small, and you can only get an open end wrench on 2 of the bolts. Apparently Husqvarna changed to Allen/socket cap bolts sometime after they made my saw. If your saw doesn't already have socket cap bolts you'll need them, Husqvana part # 503200225. The cylinder bolts are M5x0.8 25mm, I got a 30 pack of grade 12.9 socket cap bolts on Amazon cheaper than I could find 4x new Husqvana branded bolts. Additionally, this cylinder is drilled and tapped for a decompression valve. There's a larger hole they provide a plug for if you don't have a decompression valve, but there's a smaller tapped hole that they don't provide a plug for, you must plug this hole too. The small hole is also a M5x0.8 thread. You don't need a long bolt here, 10mm should be enough. The gasket kit provided isn't anything special, though more pieces than you really need if all your changing is the cylinder and piston. Hopefully this info will help anyone else trying to keep their trusty old Husqvarna alive.Read full review

Overall, it seems to be of good quality, but there are a couple of things to note and one could have long term durability issues. The first thing to mote is that this is an updated cylinder for saws with a compression release. My saw did not have a compression release and I had to find a plug for the cylinder that I did not have. The second, and larger concern, is with the wrist pin clips. It came with 2 sets of clips that were of different design. Unfortunately, only 1 of the clips fit without bending out of shape. I worked as a small engine mechanic for many years and have rebuilt numerous saws so I believe I know how to do it. I ended up having to reuse one of the original wrist pin clips. This is an area that they need to check their quality control on a little more. Lastly, when it was delivered by USPS the cylinder had fallen out of the box in the package. This also cracked the case that was holding the ring, fortunately it did not crack the ring. I would also recommend they tape the box closed before shipping to prevent this from happening. All if this being said, as long as it continues to run I think this was a very good deal for the money. The saw started right up and is running strong. Read full review

Fix your older saw at a good price. Upgrades a 51 to a 55 . You will need to buy a compression release for your 51 if it does not have 1 before you rebuild your saw. It is a plus as it makes it easier for you to start. Kit has all you need for the job as far as gaskets and such. You can do this job with a allen wrench set and simple tools if you have a clean place to work and clean the engine and saw before disassembly. Pay attention to piston direction and prelube your piston before putting it in the cylinder. Run the saw at idle and don't work it hard for a while to let things break in. I was very impressed with the quality of the parts and hope they sell kits to fit my other saws. It would be helpful if the kit had directions to guide folks as to piston direction and such.

Very Nice Kit. Due to the "very affordable" price, I was a little curious of the actual quality of the Parts, until I received them. All of the Parts were exceptionally nice. No burrs, casting issues/flaws, etc. The Cylinder looked better than I expected. Very clean and nice casting. This is a "FarmerTech" Kit and is a great value! Installed the Cylinder, Piston, etc. in my Husqvarna 55 Chainsaw and i'm back running again. Time will tell if the Kit holds up and is truly of good quality...but I don't expect any surprises. I would definitely buy this Kit again, if needed.......A great option vs. the "extremely high" prices from Husqvarna for these, as OEM Replacement Parts! Going through Husqvarna, these Parts would have been well over $ 350.00!....so, basically it would NEVER be worth "repairing" your Old Husqvarna Saw...You'd just have to buy another NEW Saw @ $ 350 - $ 400...Not a very comfortable choice. I love this Kit! Great Product, Great Price!Read full review

Good product for the home or farm use. All parts fit great without extra prep work. Cyl. is drilled and tapped for compression release so if you don't have that a 10mm x 1.0 bolt will plug the hole. The fuel filter and spark plug is a bonus as well.
