I bought the Harmony 650 to replace my Harmony 670 (designed for TiVo) which kept getting dropped on the front end and breaking the usb connection. Pros: Well balanced and can easily determine which end is which, unlike the "peanut shaped" 670. Uses batteries, so don't have to put on charger stand every night. Buttons light up and are logically arranged. I really like how it turns on and off each device depending on the activity (TV, DVD, etc.). Easy to program, and settings are kept online. Cons: Only a few buttons can be custom programmed, but Logitech does a good job in providing for all buttons on the original remote of each device. The buttons are not quite as responsive as I would like, i.e., when trying to stop during fast forward or reverse. Overall, a good buy.

OK, yes, this remote can be programmed to handle a few different components. I loaded four different components into mine. They are a cable box DVR unit, the television, the audio processor and a vacuum tube audio amplifier. My components never turn on with one button. The remote asks if the processor is turned on after it does a "fix", and it does then turn that one on, but nothing else turns on. I end up going to the small screen to trigger each one individually. And make sure you get out of the help section or it won't control anything. The first go around, when I switched to music, my tube amp shut off. It's not supposed to shut off when I select music. I can't have my tube amp shutting off and then manually turned back on again. It will get ruined. So I set the remote so switching devices won't trigger components to be affected. The tube amp stays on but anytime I want to use the remote, I still have to go to the manual trigger selection to turn everything on. And then too, I must have hit a button that switched my processor out of surround mode. I spent a couple hours figuring that one out. And, in order to even use this remote, you have no real idea of what each button does. I suppose that's why my processor went into another sound mode? You have to hit buttons to see what they do? So, for 35 dollars, I got a handy control to adjust the volume. I'm afraid to push any other button in fear I'll screw up settings on my processor. I still use four remotes like I always did before buying this one. One to turn the tube amp on and off, one to turn the processor on, off and input selections, one to turn the TV on and off and one to control cable channels and the DVR section. I had a feeling it was too good to be true finding a remote control that can operate an array of various components.Read full review

I really like this model, and it is the second one we have owned. I like it because there is no charger base it needs to be on. I don't have an outlet close enough to the table it sits on. The only issue I have is the smallness of the writing on it, and the center button size. It is very small and I need to remove my glasses to read the descriptions by the keys. I now have most of them memorized, but my mom, who is 89 could not see the writing and thus had trouble using it. I bought another one just to make it easier for her because we had 3 remotes and she was a bit confused learning all of them. This one did not help her any better than before. But with that being said.....I happen to love it and would buy another one in a minute. It sure makes my life easier and tables less cluttered with various remotes to run all the components in our TV and Stereo system. We have Dish also and it runs that smoothly, too. Buy it.....you'll like it.Read full review

It took only about 30 minutes to configure the remote. The software is easy to navigate and understand. I replaced around 5 remotes with just this one. The screen on the remote is small but easy to understand and the buttons around that screen are easy to operate. Almost all the features available in the original remote is available in this.I would definitely recommend this product and it is worth the price. Sometimes when I click the button on the top left corner to switch off all the devices, it is not switching off my projector. But when I use "help" button just above the screen, it switches off. Overall I am happy with the product.

Great remote, combines all of your remote and place the originals in a safe space. To watch TV, just press WATCH TV, to Watch a DVD, just press WATCH DVD, and there you have it. First, you have to connect to your PC and connect to Logitech's website thru a high speed internet. No internet? Don't even think about getting this device. At logitech you add your audio visual devices, make sure you know your model numbers. Logitech makes you ADD ACTIVITY, such as WATCH TV, WATCH MOVIE, LISTEN RADIO, which allows you to do any of those things with one button. It is very complicated and ruled by a logic tree, that can be extremely frustrating if there is only one thing to change, like the DVD comes on but only when you want the TV and the Cable box to come on. But this is the only thing out there right now that is infinitely customizable adding new devices online instead of on the remote. Warning, this does not work with UHF devices, such as DISH Networks DVR's which allow you to watch multiple TV's from one Receiver box. This remote is only Infrared (IR) and you have to be in the same room to operate said equipment. There is optional equipment that transmit the IR signal to another room but that is more $$$. The remote has large ergonomic buttons and will glow slightly in the dark, great for your home theater. A small LCD screen is in the center top and is easily seen in the dark or in harsh florescent lighting. You can also select each device separately and operate each item individually if you prefer. Not sure its worth the $80 to $300, but for now its the way to combine your remotes.Read full review
