Effective protection against rust.
Of all the rust primers / treatments that I have used, this seems to keep rust at bay the longest, sometimes decades if applied correctly to properly cleaned metal. The product is thick and dries quickly so is unlikely to give a smooth finish but you can purchase an aerosol equivalent if you choose. Found it works best when applied in two medium to light coats with a good day or two between coats which eventually forms a virtually impenetrable coating. Top coats of color adhere well and any primer you get on your clothes or splash on surfaces are usually extremely difficult to remove as the primer has such powerful bonding properties. Product is available in a peachy beige color or a dark brown and possibly a grey. I could be wrong but I believe the paint has fine glass particles which ... I could be wrong but I believe the paint has fine glass particles which layer over each other as the paint dries which makes it waterproof once set and prevents moisture reaching the metal surface, thereby preventing or limiting rust, but you'd need to check for sure. Not the cheapest product but certainly a very good product. If you need a smoother finish that also protects then you'd be better off going for the aerosol and layering it up with many passes.

Very useful for car and motorcycle restoration
The best anti rust primer for very rusty and pitted surfaces,used in conjunction with a rust killed to attack the rust in the deep pits, it will keep pitted ferrous metals rust free for a long time.
