great loco runs really well and even though it is the railroad series model it appears to be well detailed and constructed. rails of sheffield are an excellent dealer and always dispatch early and every item i have bought from them has turned up before the due date which always impresses me. they are also very quick to help should a problem arise. the loco has a very smooth motor and is very powerful ,pulling many many trucks .it is also a good slow runner due to the smooth motor .i was so i,pressed by the railroad series i purchased another one only 2 days later, a standard 9f this time .so to sum up 10/10 for hornby on the product and 10/10 for rails for there prompt and polite service .

This is a very well thought out model easy to handle without many delicate parts but yet having many details which give the crosti its destinctive look. A smooth runner it lacks tender pickups but with so many driving wheels this won’t be a big issue fir most users.

This is a Great model of a rare loco, full marks to Hornby for a well made & accurate model. I collect 00 gauge steam locos and keep them in display cases as I have no room for a layout. The only problem that I have with this individual model is the weathering which I prefer not to have, but overall it's a great addition to my collection.

An excellent model, with very crisp and very fine mouldings. The weathering is good, and I think it enhances this model. She will not be run ( although by all reports this model pulls very smoothly ), but will be displayed in a purpose made case. All in all, a superb train.

OK there are a few missing features compared to the prototype, but this is a railroad model. It has a powerful motor, runs well and looks really good. For the money you really shouldn't complain, in fact I'm sure you'll be delighted. I certainly am, and lets face it, for a loco that only had a few examples if it wasn't for Hornby railroad we'd have never seen this as a ready to run model.
