Have had 2 harmony remotes before and this is easier to programme than those, but not so easy that I could say 'yes' to ease of programming. It's not that difficult either, so 'No' is a bit hard. It is time consuming, but well worth working through as by 'teaching' this remotes a few unlisted commands, the one remote has replaced a TV, sound bar, Virgin, VCR and sound system remotes - and does it well. Given the price as well I have found this the best single remote I have had to date and firmly recommend it.

I have had the Harmony 555 for many years but after difficulty of response for a few well used buttons and 2 internal cleaning sessions, the second with limited success, I decided to try the Harmony 650 the price was right at £45 new. It only does 8 devices (the 555 was 15) so will be limiting for some and I use 9 which can be done with a work-around. Programming is fiddley but by the time you have finished, you will be an expert. This was made easier for me by using the Harmony transfer program but it still has to be tweaked for the new device. Minus 1 star for all this 3 activities can be selected by dedicated buttons but a drawback is the others selected by the screen (2 as 1 time) cannot be ordered so with 13 activities, I have 7 screens, hence minus a another star. Despite the above, I do recommend the 650 and have bought 2, the second in another room using only 4 devices. There are thousands of devices to choose from in the Harmony library and all my diverse one were there. As a last point, this model only does IR and NOT Bluetooth or RF. I hope this helps.Read full review

Bought a Harmony 650 to replace my old 525. At first had problems with it because I already had a Logitech account and I tried to use the old desktop to set it up. Found I a to open a new account and then with the new desktop it worked fine. Only con is the battery cover is a bad fit and seem loose.

Back cover doesn't fit properly. Not sure if it's a defective unit or generally like this. This causes the lid to make a rattling sound whenever lifted or moved. There is also a delay in commands registering on the device when compared to original remote, frustrating but there seems to be no fix. Tried adjusting various delay settings with no luck. It's an okay product but for the price expected a little more.

The hardware of this Harmony 650 is good, attractive and solid. What kets it down in a big way is the software. Firstly it's American orientated, the database is based on products sold there. Secondly it's fine for run of the mill products sold by the large corporations such as Panasonic, Sony etc. Give it sonething made by a small company such as Bladeius or Gamut, Arcam and you find that it cannot get things right, the database is just wrong! If yiu have the original remote, a PC and the time you're better off buying a Philips Pronto, the screen is larger, everything will work and you can design your own macros. More importantly you are not reliant on the internet. Hope this helps.
