Amazing I loved my Canon purple ixus color Canon is the best in quality and tecnology this cam has a best touch controlled digital cameras It has 12 megapixels pictures very bright vivid. The screen is very responsive to touch. This is due partly to the larger screen size than many touch controlled digital cameras offer. Picture quality is excellent and the build quality is top quality. If you are looking for a touch controlled digital camera the IXUS 200 is worth a very close look
I purchased it as an upgrade to my Ixus 75 Particularly because of the wide angle lens function and touch screen function. It is hand bag size, versatile and it has a touch screen function, easy to use. Picture quality is excellent, and it had the best reviews of any of the similar camera's on the market including the Nikon.
Most surprised by this little gem!Bought to save me carrying a FZ20 and associated bits on a recent cruise, the wide angle gave great results,It is so easy to slip into your pocket-even to take to dinner to snap the 'goings -on' at your table et'c,. My only complaint so far [owned 1 month] is that after shooting about 4 shots in the ships theatre on the last night and switching it off, later when I came to use it, I found that the SD card had been whipped clean of approximately 45 shots taken of the cruise! It has NOT happened since YET,but it made me extreemly angry as I don't know what I did wrong. I am more than pleased with the repro to,it is a truly compact and useful camera the instruction manual on CD [supplied]is very helpful too.
bought it because the very expensive one i had bought stopped working after 4 weeks!! this camera is excellent - easy to use, good results
This camera offers a lot and was one of the first to offer a widescreen touch-sensitive LCD display. Sadly, I found it too awkward to use - you are never sure whether to touch the screen or use the other input buttons. Also the menu systems are slightly confusing as are the different gestures to control the touch-screen (eg delete picture or viewing slideshow). The "Active Display" feature where various shaking directions activate various functions (eg checking focus) were simply a complete puzzle. My wife has an IXUS 90IS which I much preferred to use. The triangular (video/still) mode switch on the top of the camera is too small and I found that the widescreen format was not well-suited to printing pictures so generally left the camera in a conventional mode whereby you get two black bars either side of the main picture (so what use is the big screen?) Also the 3" screen size is slightly misleading as it is measured diagonally (like all other cameras and TVs) but because of the aspect ratio (widescreen) is actually quite narrow from top to bottom. Another important feature for me is the ability to do extreme close-ups (like the 90IS at 2cm) but the closest this camera would go was about 10-12cm :( It was a good camera and took great pictures but whenever I used it, it was always with some degree of disappointment where the camera did not match my expectations - and thankfully I sold it to buy an IXUS 990 IS which is a joy to use by comparison. Would I recommend the 200 IS to a friend - NO - but untimately it is for you to decide if this is the camera for you. In my case, it wasn't. Given that the camera was expensive, I don't think it was good value for money (and I wouldn't even buy a mint one at half the price on the second-hand market) so I have marked it down for 'Value for Money' Also marked down is 'Features' because although the camera is absolutely stuffed with features, it isn't easy to use and so many of the features remained unused. Overall only 2 stars from me - mainly due to the disappointment it generated everytime I used it. There are much better cameras around than this one. If Canon sort out the control interface to make it more 'user-friendly' then it would deserve a higher rating.Read full review
