If you're into computer games and have seen them evolve over the years, then i'm sure you have heard of the sega saturn! Given a hard time for the few years it was around, it was definatly the underdog of its generation. however, for the lucky few people that gave it a chance, most will talk fondly of its greatness. I was one of those lucky few and having recently repurchased one i defenitaly do not regret it. Compared to the nintendo 64 and playstation there was'nt as large an amount of games, but the few exclusives that were made for it are easily some of the best games of its generation. Take it from someone who has owned all three of these consoles during the time of their release, the originality of a lot of these games makes this a console a must have for anyone who enjoys playing games! This console next to the dreamcast are probably two of the most underated consoles ever! It was such a shame that both of these never got the love they deserved. If you are thinking of picking this up, then i also suggest picking up a dreamcast too. They are both very cheap and very reliable consoles! Going back to the sega saturn the games i advise are the best of the best and range from platformers, beat em ups, arcade classics and much more. off the top of my head i advise: sonic jam, sega rally, fighter's megamix, die hard arcade, panzer dragoon zwei, sega ages and nights into dreams. These games are easily the best of the best and a good condition copy will not cost you very much at all. The sega saturn also has a lot of rare collectible games that are very highly sought after. Two of the most wanted are panzer dragoon saga and shining force 3. Possibly the best two games on the system but be prepared to pay a lot of money for them! I just cannot praise the sega saturn enough to do it justice. do yourself a favour and pick one up today, you will not regret it!Read full review
The Sega saturn was released in an era where 3d had begun to take off so graphically it struggled to match the Playstation in that department. However it was in fact a 2d powerhouse and was home to the best 2d fighting games and scrolling shoot em ups! That's not to say there weren't any good 3d games as the likes of virtua fighter 2, sega rally, nights, virtua cop 1 & 2 would show under the talent, the saturn was capable of fabulous graphics! It has to be said that the Japanese saturn had a much better and bigger selection of games that never made it to Europe and America. The saturn had enough exclusive titles to make it a worthy purchase and a console I will always remember fondly! I would recommend the likes of panzer dragoon zwei and saga, guardian heroes, athlete kings, burning rangers, radiant silvergun to add to the titles I mentioned previously.Read full review

There was a time where games were original and quirky, just before Sony came along and made video games all characterless and try-hard trendy. In the good old days before gaming went mainstream - there were some incredible games on the Saturn, which did not really get the attention and hype they deserved. Now Nintendo have rightfully started to release their back catalogue on Virtual console for the Wii. PS3 and X-Box also have a wide retro back catalogue available. Sadly, Sega's 32 bit era has become pretty much forgotten. Probably because Sony's PSX stomped it into the ground with superior graphics and better marketing. However the fun of the 16 bit era shone through the Sega Saturn in a way the technically superior but ultimately bland PSX lacked. You either get it or you don't, but if you're reading this you're probably nostalgic about the Saturn. So, in short I'm saying, just buy one because you won't be disappointed and will have lots of smiles and laughs playing on it with like minded friends.Read full review
