Although not branded by a well known tool company this wood splitter wedge seems to quite robust. It worked well when I split several large slices of tree trunk from a tree we cut down last week. Splitting fresh cut wood with a splitter of this type is so much easier than splitting wood that is dry. To get the wedge started use a club hammer then use a sledge hammer to drive the wedge and split the log. A heavy sledgehammer is best for this job, for example a 6lb roughneck splitting maul is just too light for this job. I have split logs from a long dead hardwood tree, ie very dry wood, with another manufacturer of wood grenade with good success and I do not expect this wedge to be any different although sharpening the point with a grinder might be useful. Be aware that splitting dry wood particularly hard wood with a wood grenade is hard work even when using a heavy sledge hammer to drive in the wedge. Read full review

In the few hours I have used this item none of the logs have split in more than one direction. It is difficult to drive in so I have reverted to a standard wedge.

Despite what some other reviewers have said I found this Log Bomb to be quite effective, even with hard woods, including some large bits of holly tree. However it really needs a decent sledgehammer to be able to hit it hard enough-a small lump hammer won't work so well.

I've tried other log splitters and they have been useless. This splits logs effortlessly, well worth the money.

The log splitter I bought is very good to split logs in halves but not quarters. The description states it should split wood in four parts not just two parts.
