Testing
The build quality is good of the product. The draper logo is on sheet metal which has been cut and bent into shape, I was expecting it to be a solid piece which has been machined but that was just my expectation. One thing to note is that the tube that fits into the spark plug hole has a schrader valve fitted so that needs to come out before it will operate as a leak down tester, strange they did that. Easy to set the dial and test with. I would recommend making your own though for the price this costs, check youtube and there are plenty videos. I will make my own just because I already have most of the parts needed to make one.The build quality is good of the product. A few issues...
First thing is this is just a Draper-labelled generic unit. Second, it doesn't come with instructions. Third, just as the other reviewer has stated, it looks like a solid block of aluminium in the photos but is in fact a bent piece of thin aluminium sheet that is flimsy and has sharp edges (this is why the only photo from Draper is directly down on the box, enhancing the 'solid block' appearance). Fourth (also mentioned by the other reviewer) is that the cylinder connection hose comes with a one-way schraeder valve fitted. It will NOT work with this fitted and you will have to find a removal tool to take it out (same tool as for car or bicycle tyre valves). Lastly, it comes fitted (jammed in) with an 'XF' (Euro) air input plug, and has a standard plug in the box. The problem comes when you ... First thing is this is just a Draper-labelled generic unit. The problem comes when you want to remove the XF an dfit the standard one if that's what your current air hose is fitted with. You will need a 14mm DEEP socket with a single hexagon. Don't try to remove it with a spanner or a bi-hex socket, you will just rip off the corners of the hex nut on the air plug. I wish I had bought the Laser unit (couldn't justify anything more expensive) at around £80 more. Then you don't have to buy the extensions pieces separately.
