    An excellent hiking compass

    A well made compass, with some nice features, like: Luminous where it needs to be; Magnifying lens; Three non-slip pads to stop it sliding around on your map; Declination (or Variation) scale; Three Romer scales; cm / mm ruler; Inch / 1/16" ruler. The compass needle comes to rest quickly. Still a lot of money, but one of the better compasses for hiking, etc.

    Sila compass expedition 4

    I think it cost me £18 with postage, light weight and great value. I'm just starting out learning how to use a compass and this is ideal. I've found loads of videos on YouTube on how to use. It's simple with the silva 3 step system. Definitely recommend for a first compass.

    Reliable in all conditions

    I have had many Silva compasses in my life, I now own two - as a handheld instrument it is more than adequate. I would never use a Satnav or a phone a compass never has a flat battery (?)

    Does exactly what I need it for!

    This compass was a recommended piece of kit for a winter mountaineering course which is coming up, and I have to say, this is a really easy to use with all the scales you will need for different maps. Does exactly what I need it for!
