Very nice Looper .. Simple to use
I have had this for over a year now and have never had a problem with it. I would have given it a 5 but I had a hard time trying to get an external foot switch to work with this pedal. The documentation was so poor as it does not use correct electrical verbiage for switches words like "Normally Open" NO or "Normally Closed" NC switch are a foreign concept to Boss. They use DC power words like "Positive Switch" and "Negative Switch" to describe the external pedal operation in the documentation. Boss support was useless they just repeated what ever they could find in the documentation I almost sent the pedal back thinking I had a defective one as it sort of kind of worked with the external pedal I was using. Then it dawned on me to try a pedal that change between NC. or NO once I got ... I have had this for over a year now and have never had a problem with it. As good as the ditto??
I bought this to compare to my ditto pedal. It’s not nearly as simple to use, despite what people say. Okay, it might just be me, but the ditto is more intuitive to use. After you record the first loop, it automatically begins recording the overdub. With the ditto, it goes to pause when you complete a loop. So, yes, it’s a Boss pedal and built like a tank. But for me, it’s 50/50 with the ditto. You have to make your own decision about this one. I bought this to compare to my ditto pedal. It’s not nearly as simple to use, despite what people say. Okay, it might just be me, but the ditto is more intuitive to use. After you record the first loop, it automatically begins recording the overdub. With the ditto, it goes to pause when you complete a loop. So, yes, it’s a Boss pedal and built like a tank. But for me, it’s 50/50 with the ditto. You have to make your own decision about this one.

Indispensable for practice, performance, and writing
The few negative reviews I see for this pedal come from people who obviously didn't read the manual. You can change the order in which it operates (it goes Record -> Overdub -> Playback) by default, but you can switch it to go Record -> Playback -> Overdub using the steps outlined in the manual. You can also make it so that double-tapping the pedal during playback will make it stop playing at the end of the current loop. This is good if you want to take a solo over the chord progression you've just been playing, and then go back to playing the chords live. Once you understand the basics of how it's set up, it becomes *real* easy to work with, but it does take some practice. Sound quality and durability are both phenomenal. I like to keep the level down around 75-80% just so my loops fall ... The few negative reviews I see for this pedal come from people who obviously didn't read the manual. Great little looper!
The RC1 loop station is a great little looper. Easy to use & has lots of good features. Great sounding, no latency and really sturdy too. I use a piano sustain pedal as an external stop/erase pedal & use it at every gig with no issues. I run it in stereo after my mixer then out to my powered speakers so I can loop anything I run through the mixer ie. guitar, vocals, drum machine, basically any sound source.
