One reason to purchase was to fit with my Makita 18vLXT batteries. Overall appearance is good. The machine in my opinion is not substantial and I feel the moulded plastic body would be vulnerable to robust use. The grass box is not easy to fit or remove - as it is a small box you need to empty frequently so perfect your technique for this quickly. Previous to this mower I had a Qualcast corded machine and it definitely cut better than the Makita and scalped less. That said it is so convenient to have a battery operated machine and fully charged batteries will cut my large lawns twice and do my neighbours before recharging. Having had it almost two months now I cannot say I am enthusiastic about it. I have a lot of Makita products and this doesn’t meet their standard. Would I recommend? Yes if you have a Makita battery system.Read full review

This mower suits a small lawn that is cut regularly. It struggles to cut long grass and seems a bit under powered in my opinion. The grass collector, while large, is also quite fiddly to put on. Cordless is just great though and so convenient!

I was a bit dubious about buying this one, I mostly use Makita tools at work and have always rated them highly. Already owning batteries and a charger I only had to buy the 'naked' mower and at the price paid - felt it was worth the risk. Don't expect the same power levels as in a conventional mower - it will bog & stall in long/wet grass. The run time on 3ah batteries is disappointing but useable (20-25 minutes). Otherwise, it's a pleasure to use, incredibly lightweight and with an excellent quality of cut, no leads, no cold starting issues, super quiet, it could not be easier. I would absolutely recommend this mower to anyone who has existing Makita 18v kit and to everyone else who can justify the price for the full package for hassle free lawn mowing

Seems to be a good mower. Cordless is the way forward, so much easier than petrol or corded. I used two 5ah batteries, they didn't last quite as long as I had hoped, but charged during a quick tea break, then finished the job. Will be interesting to see battery life after a few years. Overall a good cut from an easy to use machine with good height adjustment.

As an owner of other Makita LXT 18v/36v tools. This is a great addition to the range- quiet, well made, powerful & lightweight with a wide 43cm cutting blade. The runtime could be better but then the trade off would be less power and around 30minutes on 2x 5ah batteries is ample to do my lawn and if with a dual quick charger these can be recharged to go again about 45mins. The DLM431z is better built than the DLM380z with sturdier wheels, cleaner under carriage- less grass clogging the blade and has a slightly more power motor (720w vs 600w) though the 380z has a 38cm cutting blade so doesn't need as much power and is about 30% cheaper and suitable for smaller lawns. Overall, I highly recommend either lawnmower. Even any other cordless electric mower will be we welcomed by your neighbourhood for the reduction in noise and not having to run a long extension cable that you need to constantly move away from the cutting blade is welcome peace of mind tooRead full review
