A god film, highly regarded by many - but definitely not for everyone.
This is not a film for everybody - even though it is rated very highly by the film industry generally. Some might say that it drags on from crisis to crisis - the title really only lives up to its name in the last couple of minutes!!! I have always heard other people speak highly of it though for myself, I would mark it no better than 6/10. My wife would make that 2/10 !! - But yes, it is a good film, with James Stewart playing James Stewart - the same as he does in every film (just like John Wayne)!! You need an open mind for this one. - Would I recommend it? - No. - Would I say to someone if it happens to come on TV "You should watch it" ? - Yes.This is not a film for everybody - even though it is rated very highly by the film industry generally. Wonderful Life
This is one of those classic films that enhances anyones film collection. Although filmed in black and white this does not detract away from the film but seems to add weigth and structure to it. As the story unfolds you watch how the hero's life starts to unravel and you are swept up in the storyline of his decline rather than escaping into special effect. Although made in another millenium it still stands the test of time with a story that has meaning to us all, especially over the Christmas period when a lot of us are unable to get together with family like myself as we life in a different country. I intend to roll it out every Christmas and enjoy it, because the true meaning of friends and family is not just to remember them at Christmas but for through the whole year and this is what ... Relaxing and comforting movie.
It is a feel-good movie which is just what we need in our present time. Watched it with my elderly mother and we'll watch it again next Christmas time.
