Our 14 year old DC07 finally packed up so we decided to get this one. Out of the box it looks cool, I was very impressed with the technology and engineering. The only downside is that the plastic is considerably more flexible than our old model, I feel like you could throw our old one down the stairs every day and it would be A1, whereas the new one flexes and strains under normal use, but I've got used to it now, and there's probably a good reason for it. Having used it for a few weeks I'm so impressed, it pulls so much dust out of carpets that I had thought were clean, it's quite horrifying. It's also effortless to use, a lot easier to swing around or carry than our old model, and the suction is clearly far more powerful. The extra spinning brush-head is brilliant for upholstery, and the vacuum is fantastic on a range of hard or soft surfaces. This machine has drastic faults! The handle keeps falling off! I followed all the instructions, fitting it together. But as you try to use it the handle just comes off in your hands. The vacuum cleaner is also very heavy and immovable, it won’t turn corners...! I have to pick it up with it’s handle on the front and move it in the direction I want it to go! I’ve had friends who love the manoeuvrability of the machine! I want to return it! I have one of the Dyson cordless ‘stick’ machines and have to use this to get to the corners and edges...but even this empties itself as you’re facing it downwards if you don’t put the small attachment on! What is wrong with these designs?

Pretty much what the title says. It might be me but the ball seems to get in the way of being able to push and pull the hoover. It's totally refreshed our cream carpets though after they'd turned a darker shade of cream because of the black cat! Would definitely recommend, just takes a bit of getting used to. Also, the attachments are a bit awkward but the results make it worth while.

The unit worked for a couple of hours before the brush head failed. Replacement brush head dispatched quickly enough, but didn't fix the problem. Dyson Engineer dispatched and diagnosed a mis assembly of an internal part that enabled / disabled the brush head. I accept components can fail, but this is a Quality Control problem, could do better. Email exchange with Dyson produced apologies but no acknowledgement of perhaps a quality issue?

Excellent pick up and only on the lowest setting, easy to manoeuvre once you get the hang of it. Only a very slight negative and that is it is a little heavy.
