Very easy to use. The beeper volume is adequate for my purposes, but I wouldn't describe it as 'loud' as Salter do. I had one in their previous style (which I lost) and it had a more piercing sound. A variable volume facility might be handy. As it doesn't have a spring clip as the previous style did, a button lock would be useful for when carrying it in a pocket.

Good quality product. Very compact. The alarm could hardly be described as loud mind! It’s very quiet actually! You could not leave the room and expect to hear it, keeping it in your pocket works if you have good hearing! But the buttons protrude, meaning they sometimes accidentally get activated in your pocket, negating the alarm! I use it as a golf timer for the new 3 minute ball search period. The strong magnet means I can attach it to my golf trolley, for this, it is excellent, being quiet it does not disturb other players! For the kitchen there are far cheaper alternatives on eBay which do the same job just as well, if a little larger and just as quiet!

Looks like this built to last. Bought a cheap one off eBay before this, and it arrived damaged. This Salter timer is easy to use. Perfect after moving into a doer Upper, and having the existing oven to use, with no timer built-in to the cooker. Buy one

Having used a mini Salter cooking timer for years, it’s age - due to a great deal of use - was showing, so bought this as a modernised, new version. Mistake! The sound output was barely audible at arm's length, so could not be heard at all when in service. I hope this was just a rogue unit as Salter has always been a respected brand for many many years in our view.

The quality is quite good. As a timer it’s ok. The thing is that I bought it to replace a cheap or rather the cheapest timer I bought a couple of years ago. The digits were acting up, fading and breaking up. It had never let me down and the alarm was loud, I mean you could hear it 50 metres away. This new one could only just be heard if you put it against your ear. I tried changing the battery and it made no difference. This made me change the battery in the old one and wow it worked, good as new. So the new one now resides in a drawer to be fore gotten. So if the old one ever does break down I will replace it like for like at a third of the price.
