I love this tire. It replaces my rear Kiniption that are half as thick in the tread area. It has exceptional smoothness and grip on the road - surpassing the Kiniptions that were my first 'street' MTB tire other than a stray cruiser tire that lasted forever. Tread thickness counts for durability. My rear Kiniption had a spoke head buried in it sideways -- and while the plies on that tire are incredibly tough to tear - the tire was already worn out after about 1200 miles. I expect the K838's to last twice as long, and save me lots of effort in terms of rolling resistance. I sort of conclude today that unless you are riding street / park stunts - you really don't need Kiniptions. The K-838's look a bit odd in the pictures - but they look even better on the bike than the Kiniptions. They are blackwall, and being 1.95's instead of 2.25's -- they look like they fit the bike. I can vouch for the issues I had with centering the tire using a 2.25 and a 8-speed hub on this bike - you have a quarter thickness of clearance and the centerline is way off, making hands-off riding an all-guts-no-glory event!Read full review

The tires roll very well, with a lot less drag than a conventional mountain bike tire. The reason I only gave it four stars is because the side walls are a lot thinner than I expected. The side walls don't feel very sturdy; however, once the tire is inflated it feels like any normal tire. I mainly use my mountain bike on the street and these tires work very well, with less drag, but be careful riding through sandy patches, as the tires will lose traction. Overall, I am happy with these tires, for street use.

Very happy with the smooth ride. Since I ride 99% paved trails that I found the mountain bike knobby tire tread were unnecessary and actually offered less traction on the pavement. Also these have less rolling resistance utilizing higher air pressure. I will have to see how long they last, but I like everything else about them so far...
